What if President Obama stays in Iraq?
I didn't vote for Obama because of the color of his skin, or his position on stem cell research.

I voted for the man-himself- because I felt he was intelligent and honorable.

And if he comes out a year from now, and says we can't leave Iraq just yet, I'm gonna trust his judgment. He'll get savaged by the right as just another democratic politician who lies to the people. He'll get savaged by the left for their sense of betrayal.

But, unlike Bush, if Obama says we have to stay in Iraq yet a bit longer, I'm guessing he's got a good reason. Maybe because he realizes the implications; the instability throughout the entire middle east should we leave abruptly. The potential for Iraq to become a satellite of Iran, and how that would create problems for all the Sunni Muslim countries in the region.

Now, of course I hope the President is finally able to bring our men and women home, but for some reason, if he's not...

I would hope that all Americans understand that doing right by your country is far more important than breaking a campaign promise, or trying to save face.

And I truly believe that President Obama would'nt leave our troops in Iraq not one day more than was necessary.

1. Why would he? The Iraqis don't want us there. Americans don't want us there.
Obama campaigned against it. Your post confuses me.

2. He will draw down starting immediately
Iraqis will cheer in the streets. The world will cheer in the streets. The freepers will go mad. The RW talkshows will go mad. I will smile.

3. The situation calls for a new treaty. It's all up to the greed filled oil conglomerations
which means countries and religions/sects/tribes.

Depends on what they want for the children and judging from the last decades - death and maiming is as easy to take as a mild tea, especially in our country.

If everyone made decisions that allowed their children to live, we could all do something worthwhile.
