The Rehabilitation of Sarah Palin ...
A soft and fluffy puff piece with Matt Lauer ???

(Where in the world is Matt Lauer ? .. Up Sarah Palin's ASS ?)

Greta Van Susterin learning to ride a 'Snow Machine' on an icy expanse behind the Palin manse ?

(Do you suppose the Palin's were collecting their state 'per diem' check whilst primping for the cameras ? )

LONG fluffy stories on nearly EVERY damned TV channel ?

WTF is going on here ? ...

This is a woman who called insisted half her fellow citizens aren't 'real americans' ...

A woman who's vicious slashing rhetoric drove her supporters to blurt out sociopathic and racist epithets ...

A woman who's nasty campaign speeches caused actual threats against the lives of the Democratic party nominee AND his family .... (According to the Secret Service)

A woman who is dumb as a stump ....

WHO is behind this attempt to ameliorate her damaged brand ? .... WHY is the media bending over backwards to repaint the image of Sarah Palin ?

She is a despicable human being, and unworthy of ANY public praise, yet the media is falling over itself to try and make the country forget all that ...

Why ? .... Who is demanding this, and why are they getting it ?

29. If she thinks this year was rough wait until the Republican primary for the 2012 cycle
Every Republican angling for the nomination has 2 to 3 years to start digging up everything they can find on Palin.

If she thought the Dems were jerks wait until she comes against her opponents for the Repub nomination.

And should she somehow get the nomination ( which I think is unlikely if she can't slip into the Senate and doesn't win reelection for governor ) everything that was off the table because of her being just the VP nominee will be on the table in the 2012 general election.

2. She is NOT going away
She will be "rehabilitated" by 2012. She will be seen a "strong, conservative voice." She will be on TV until you want to puke. She will be coddled and prompted by "think tanks" and dragged around the world to meet foreign leaders, etc.

By 2012, most Americans will see her as a "viable" candidate. Mark my words.

7. I Hope You're Wrong
Me, i think she's done. I a few months people will be saying "Sarah Who?" and within 2 years the repubs will find a new shining star to try to resurrect their party. There are enough clever people (not smart just clever) in the RNC to figure out that they must start marginalizing the radical right to regain any prominence with the electorate.

She sure wouldn't be the one to do it.

So, i'm thinking one way and you're thinking the other. Since she makes me nauseous, i'm hoping i'm right.

14. So do I, but I have an uncanny knack for foreseeing these things.
And, I've been saying this since she burst on the scene. What we saw was Sarah Palin 1.0. There will be a version 1.5, Version 1.55, and by 2012, Version 2.0 will be ready for release.

Failing that, they will find a clone and prep her better before they release her. She will be just as whacked out as Sarah, but smoother.

16. Now I REALLY Hope You're Wrong
hey! You're ruining my day!

See here's what i hope:
Here in illinois the Repubs were being kicked to the curb little by little. In order to stop the spread of the cancer, Judy Barr-Topinka, and major repub power player here, maneuvered to get Alan Keyes to come here in 2004 to run against Obama for Senate.

This please the radical right to no end. Of course, Keyes got slaughtered by more than 2:1. Topinka then went back the "base" in Illinois and told them (paraphrasing) "We tried it your way and it was a disaster. Now step aside and let the professionals handle things." We call it being "Topinka-ed".

I'm hoping that is what's going on at the national level.

17. Again, so do I
My fervent hope is that Sarah has already reached her level of incompetence. She may not be educable. She's good at reciting talking points, but can't think on her feet -- and you can't "bring her up to speed" on things like history, geopolitics, economics, etc. in a short time. This is why they kept her out of interviews, etc. She couldn't answer a follow-up question. She always reminded me of the student who is called on, but who hasn't read the assignment -- so she just keeps throwing out words and phrases, hoping that something relates to what was asked.

But, as I said, the people behind Palin, the ones who really inserted her into the process, have been looking for a "Margaret Thatcher type" to promote. If Sarah doesn't rise to the occasion, they will keep looking.

31. lol. That's exactly how I see it.
Her interview responses sound like a bluebook essay test written by someone who didn't attend class all semester. Keep throwing in buzzwords and hope some of it's right.

4. Don't discourage her Trajan
We want her to run against Obama in 2012 so he can thoroughly clean her clock and run her off the national political stage FOREVER. She is a huge gift to the DNC, so let's encourage her to further embarrass herself with more of her word vomit.

8. While I am inclined to agree ...
There is NO media blitz trying to burnish the credentials of ANY other possible candidate ...

I would LOVE the opportunity to see Palin on the ticket in 2012, my questions are : 1) WHY is the media trying to change her image ?, 2) Who is behind it ? and 3) Why do they have this power ?

5. I can't decide if Gov. Palin knows that she is a complete idiot and does not
think it matters, or if she is SUCH a complete idiot that she thinks she's qualified for public service.

Either way, as little as we may like Huckabee's and Romney's politics, they at least are sentient beings. Politically appalling, yes, but possessed of some sense of what is effective in mounting a national campaign.

I think Palin is about to back into the buzz saw of big-league politics.

30. Logically, Stevens should have been broadsided this election
We see how that's worked out. Even if the Dem candidate pulls it out by all rights it should never have been this close.

I have no doubt that Palin stands at least a 50% chance of getting reelected in 2010 or even getting elected to the Senate if Stevens ends up the victor and gets bounced.

11. Because she tasted the limelight, and like an addict, she's hooked.
As for as who's behind the scenes, who knows? There's plenty of delusional conservatives who think she's a brilliant representative of 'true' conservatism. To me, she just looks even more pathetic as she tries to blame every failure on someone else. The most telling thing is how she thinks running in 2012 would be 'a service to the country'. That's the sign of a gigantic clueless egomaniac.

I see her getting some kind of media deal out of this, be it a book deal, or a even a TV show. She's got four years to get formed into the vision that the right thinks she is. I could see her winning over 'real' America, especially conservative women who feel the liberal media doesn't represent them.

13. She's Still A Shiny New Toy...
A lot of this publicity is a reaction to how controlled she was during the campaign. She was on every teevee talking head's "get" list and now she's cashing in. They all want something juicy and she's playing them.

What we're witnessing is the first round of the GOOP's circular firing squad...as the Barracuda has become the martyr for the fundies and wingnuts...and the more she is "rehabilitated" the more damage she does within her own corrupt party. This grifter is a product of the 25 plus year right wing brainwashing, thus she speaks in all the codewords and dog whistles that intoxicate the wingnuts...and face it, she's about all they have.

Cheers...

18. I think one aspect of Palin's media circus is that the media know she
can't fight back.

They know she's an idiot and they can get a lot of mileage out of taunting her and trying to twist her in front of microphones and cameras, in the way cats often play with a mouse as if to torture it.

26. The right wingnuts love her and will back her for as long as they can.
Get used to her. She's political manna for the RR. The LOVE her and so the media follows: she gets ratings = $$. She's beloved by the same crowds that watch GMA. She's already running for 2012.

She is despicable, completely agree. But try to separate your emotions from politics and you will see that Sarah Palin's political instincts are shockingly in line with a vast number of Americans. They don't care she's dumb (better to have a beer - or better yet, moose stew! - with), they don't care that she doesn't know foreign policy (gawd will guide her), they love Trig (and dismiss any speculation about timelines with Bristol's "mono" - cough - , a 9 hour flight after her water broke with her 5th "child" etc.).

You aren't getting it. Sarah Palin is going to haunt you for a long time. She's the media/RR/rethug candidate (64% of Rethugs would love to see her as the headliner on the Rethug ticket in 2012).

This woman needs to be kneecapped, then euthanized, by the Alaskan congress and press. The lower 48 has no authority here - anything we say will be labelled an "attack", and not understanding "Alaskan politics". The take-down needs to happen by Sarah Palin's own. Immediately. Like a cheetah and a baby gazelle.

32. Sarah Palin will be the Fred Thompson of 2012
My guess is that Crist will eat her lunch in Iowa, followed by Romney in New Hampshire.

She'll be competing with Huckabee for the Evangelical vote in South Carolina. He'll get the ones whose medication is working, she'll get the raw-meat-and amphetamines crowd.

She's all over TV right now because she's a reasonably attractive woman in her mid 40s.

Too bad we can't get Segolene Royal to make an appearance on Fox News. Now THERE is beauty and brains combined....
