Obviously the name of the site won't change, but I guess the utter transformation of the political landscape (and resulting impact on DU's positioning) in the last 8 years can serve as a good example of the finer points of brand management in a changing environment. ;)

1. Good thing to be questioning! I'm sure we will have a lot to discuss here - pro & con.
I am seeing a lot of that all ready on the Auto Bail out question. Nice to be smelling the roses though!

2. If you never stop...
...acting like you're the underdog. Fighting with determination, conviction, integrity. I.e. acting like the underground, then you won't sell your souls out like the repubs did over the last many years. Absolute power corrupts. It's a lesson we need to learn and remember well.

3. i think so. the mainstream democratic party is pretty middle of the road.
i think as a group us at DU tend to be a fairly left heavy underground minority.

4. i'm curious to discover how valid criticisms of obama will be handled
lots of boosterism and rah rah. hope we don't get lockstep in support.

then there would be no functional difference between this place and the competition.
