I live within afterburner range of Buckley AFB and I listened to the mournful call of Taps on Monday and Tuesday as a salute to the brothers and sisters who did not return.

(Compare and contrast these poignant cartoons, which commemorate our fallen (both U.S. and Canadian), to the empty platitudes and broken promises of Fuckstick and Shitstain. And, oh, by the way, did Palin say anything about our veterans in her softball interviews this week? I didn't fucking think that bag of shit said a single word).

1. No, and all they will offer...

Are the same empty platitudes and meaningless drivel, while honorable people who served receive little or nothing that they were promised for their service and dies terrible deaths on the streets of this nation.

And some wonder why I am such a tightly-wound ball of rage, so often.

I saw the screw job start under Reagan. Both my parents were WWII vets, and my mom needed the VA all her life, for the effects of the malaria she contracted while in the Army. I saw the benefits get cut and cut again. I saw it with my friends who ended up doing things like drinking and dying, frozen to death in snow drifts, after The Nam. I saw all that and too much more. I saw it with my friend whose life went from surgery to surgery, experimental treatment to treatment, from Agent Orange. I saw his care and benefits cut as well, while his life fell apart because he served.

And people wonder why I rage.
