Move Joe Lieberman to the Small Business Committee. |
|
It's a decent compromise.
The Small Business Committee is probably the quietest, least controversial, and most importantly, least prestigious Senate Committee. It's currently chaired by John Kerry, who's earned enough seniority to move up the food chain to a more prestigious committee. And most of all, it enables us to offer to Joe what the GOP cannot offer - a chairmanship, but at the same time, it'd be an appropriate smackdown for his disloyalty to the Democratic Party, and it enables Obama and the other Democrats to put Joe in a box - the Small Business Committee doesn't have the oversight powers over the Executive branch that the Homeland Security Committee does.
Joe desperately needs an asskicking, but at the same time, we could use his vote to break filibusters and get some work done. This is the way to do it.

1. If only Joe would agree. |
|
Nothing but his current seat would appease him.
And it looks like he may get it.
Really, Dem "leadership"?
I'm surprised he isn't demanding MORE.

3. Lieberman will wipe that off the table pronto. Nothing less than Chair of Homeland Sec. Comm or else |
|
he'll split with the Democrats. This is, for Lieberman, non-ngeotiable.
At the moment, senior Democrats are calling others in the Senate to give Lieberman everything he wants and more without so much as a slap on the wrist for his traitorous ways. They are twisting Pres.-elect Obama's words in defense of their upcoming bend-over-for-Traitor-Joe session.

5. I just called Ken Salazar... |
|
I left a rather strongly worded and harshly toned message on his voice-jail.
My bet is that Joe will take the Small Business committee if it's his only option other than defecting to the GOP - he'll get a chair that way, while he'll be at the bottom of the food chain in the GOP.

7. Yeah, or the Coffee-Serving Committee. |
|
He needs to be kicked somewhere where he only gets ceremonial power.
