Cheapest DSL or high speed connections? |
|
I'm dropping $100/month between my business and home for internet access. Far too much IMO. But I can't do without high speed. Any advice?

1. I've been happy with DSL |
|
It's not as fast as cable but is more secure. It's certainly fast enough for me.
The only problem occurs when the DSL modem fries and I have to go to cheap dialup for a week or so while the replacement arrives. It's torture when you're used to broadband.

have a low-cost version of DSL at 768kbps. In some cases, it's under $20/month.
The cheap is not being actively actively promoted because of the effective ads from cable companies depicting all DSL as a slow and inferior product. But the offering is still there if you ask for it.
Now, 768 may not be fast enough for you if you use, say, streaming video a lot. But it's an option to explore.
Another way to save some money is with a bundled offering either from a cable compay or the local phone company. Having a landline, a data service, a video service, and/or wireless billed on the local phone bill may save some money, too.
