Saturday is National Day of Protest (click to find the one in your city) against Prop 8 - the rule that took away California's same sex couple existing right to marry.

Alot of you have expressed your support of the GLBT community (a huge thanks to all) - here's an opportunity to make your voice heard all over this nation, that we don't support some people taking minorities rights away.

So here's your chance to tell your DU family - what will you put on your protest sign?

I'm thinking:

"First Class Taxpayer, Second Class Citizen"

on one side and either

"Save Marriage, Ban Divorce"

or

"When do we vote on your Marriage?"

on the other.

1. I'm thinking of bringing a large cross

With "Don't crucify us on a cross of hate" on it.

At our protest last Friday, some fundie nut waded into the crowd with a huge styrofoam cross. There was a tussle and the cross was kind of destroyed.

Now, the police -- which around here is the military arm of the fundie church -- are trying to convince the fundie to file charges alleging that it was a "hate crime" against Christians.


I figure if we bring our own crosses, it really blunts the effect of them showing up with theirs -- takes their symbols out of their hands.

6. In Fayetteville, AR, I think mine will just ask, "When do we vote on your rights?"

That will bring into question the stupid 'initiative' that says singles and unmarried couples cannot foster nor adopt children. On the reverse, I might add, "How many kids have you adopted today?"

7. That certainly works - I'm thinking we need to start introducing

different initiatives in every state so that some of these people can see what it's like to have their basic rights targeted for extinction
