Anyone know if Ben Bernanke has issued a comment re: Paulson's press conference? |
|
It's almost impossible for me to believe Bernanke would go along with these alterations to the original plan. He was not even in favor of bailing out the automakers.
Something is so strange about the developments this morning. I can't put my finger on it, but something is definitely wrong. And I would include the sudden extending of rights to American Express to become technically a "bank", and its subsequent demand for $3.5 Billion.
Maybe this has a simple explanation: Paulson knows that $700 billion is a fraction of what is necessary to stabilize this economy, and maybe he's not getting the cooperation he'd hoped for from the foreign central banks. This morning, what I heard, was resignation and fear. Paulson has thrown in the towel. He's just trying to buy time until he can get the hell out. Then he'll leave it to us to figure it out.
I would find it very, very odd if Bernanke had no comment on this.

who is really running the government. It's 2 groups:
1) the military industrial complex
2) the banks.
That's it.
They have been running the show, they are the "shadow government" that people talk about. Notice who the bailout was for? The banks. Also AIG.
They will let the car makers go under, no doubt about it. A few years ago, an issue came up with the car companies. They needed help of some kind from the Bush administration. The govt. turned their backs on them; they'll do the same thing now.
