Are the auto manufacturer's extorting money from us?
Are they threatening collapse and massive (unprecedented) job losses in order to cash in?

They are in huge expansion mode in the rest of the world, are they not? All while persistently attacking unions and workers and demanding multi-billion-dollar bailouts here?

For how many more "capitalists" will we have to provide grotesquely huge socialist remedies (all while those of us who advocate socialism are on the receiving end of scorn and abuse)?

4. I was against the original bailout
However I wish it would've passed because the 2nd one had more pork. But from what I understand the US auto industry is about a quarter of our entire economy(I heard a similar number like that before but I'm not 100%) for example, if they go down there are more job losses and it affects not only them but auto parts manufacturers and car dealerships struggle as well. I mean if we are doing bailouts we might as well let them have one.

9. Southwest won't have it's hand out. The other airlines should ask Herb for advice on how to run a
profitable airline.

We can't affford for the communications networks to go down!

No Internet! No telephones! No cell phones! No texting! No Internet porn! It would be a disaster!

We need 400 billion now (unmarked small bills, plain grocery bags, downtown parking garage, 2 AM) and another trillion or so in a couple of months.

Thank you for calling AT&T. Have a nice day!

6. Not a threat. A fact.
And the suction effect from them sinking below the waves (along with all of their workers), will have irreversible effects on the economy. If we're fucked, you're all fucked, just as our economic collapse was a preface to the country's. Not a threat, a fact.

10. Even if we provide the proposed money, there's still the pension fund to consider
The automotive corporation pension funds have been decimated. As to the health insurance programs, I don't even know who is supposed to pick up the tab.

This is getting ridiculous.

Why not declare Chapter 11 and begin to restructure and work down the incredible debt? Even if we provide help now, it won't do anything to ameliorate the real problem, which is the gargantuan debt they've accrued.

14. I don't think any bailout that's been proposed will do anything
but pay for a few hundred golden parachutes

Management has dug itself into such a deep hole there is no solution that doesn't involve us all being "fucked" in some way.

Thanks, Ronnie Raygun, for your economic insanity.

18. They need a hostile takeover by us. Nationalize them, make them
retool and innovate, then sell the company at market value.
