Student at my college assaulted after dispute about Pres. Obama

OSWEGO, N.Y. – Kevin Flanagan, 23, faces an assault charge after police say he got into a fight outside Pizza Pub on Bridge Street. According to police, the Fort Drum soldier hit Angel Moreno, a 19-year-old SUNY Oswego student from the Bronx.

Moreno was part of a group that Flanagan got into an argument with inside the shop. An argument not about pizza, but politics.

He still hasn't woken up.

:nuke: This happened about a block and a half from my house.

1. One should know what one is facing, when one decides to push first
From the article, it sounds as if Mr Moreno made the first move.

Not always the smartest thing to do, outside of a bar.

2. Perhaps Flanagan was crowding him?
Too bad about the head injury, hope the kid will be okay.

3. What a screwed-up deal.
Nineteen years old and a potentially disabling head injury. I used to love to fight, and would get into one just for the hell of it.

Looking back, I was so fortunate that I never lost more than a few teeth and a few days in the hospital, a few times.

4. Yeah, agreed..
Dunno what happened, as I wasn't there.
He definitely shouldn't have pushed him first.

Just posted this as yet another example of the violent atmosphere in which we all live.
People can't talk politics without beating the shit out of one another.. sigh.

That said, there has been a good amount of concern regarding racism in this time over the past few semesters. I have to wonder what really happened here, and what the soldier said inside.

Regardless, makes me even more proud to have my DU bumper sticker smack dab in the center of my tailgate. :smoke:

6. Still have my stickers on also. No problems.
Yooper, White, blond, svelte female. Frankly, no sane guy is gonna approach me for a fight.
