Election results starting to filter in from Alaska
Out of the ninty one thousand ballots needed to be counted twenty eight thousand have been tallied and Begich has cut Steven's lead by two thirds. Stevens had been leading by over three thousand votes and now it is under a thousand. Expect to get more results in a couple of hours..Looking pretty good so far considering they were saying the precincts being counted first were more likely to go for Stevens..

4. Excellent.
I really don't want Caribou Barbie to be able to coast into the Senate on this one.

are all out in the Bush. I would guess they'd go for Begich. I'm not so sure about the Young/Berkowitz race.

ed. Here's Shannyn Moore's update http://shannynmoore.wordpress.com/2008/11/12/begich-gaining-with-new-vote-count/

While Georgia has moved to a run off, Minnesota is knee deep in a recount. Alaska is still trying to get the votes counted. Save the jokes. No, they don’t come in on dogsled. Today a third of the remaining 30% of the votes are now being counted. The race has narrowed to 971 votes. Making Ted Steven’s camp miss the 3533 vote margin. Begich is at 47.11% and Stevens at 47.5%. There are still has about 50,000 votes to count. The Alaska Independence Party Candidate Bob Bird is sitting with 4.05%.

Ethan Berkowitz has gained 2% in his race with Don Young. Should this trend continue, the race could tighten up more than has been reported. Berkowitz was polling consistently between 6 and 12 points ahead of Young. Current standing has Young at 50.85%, Berkowitz at 44.57, and the Alaskan Independence Candidate Don Wright at 4.34%.

Updating here as the numbers come in. I think both sides can say the Alaska Independence Party is the spoiler.

11. Then you can turn that frown on your Alaska avatar
into at least a straight line -- until we get SP off the stage when the smile can return in full. :)
