Would you watch this sitcom?
A President and his ditzy woman Vice President, do things each week for half an hour that are silly. For those of you who remember "I Love Lucy", Lucy was always trying to undermine everything Ricky did like sneaking into his nightclub show, or buying dresses and trying to hide what she paid for them.

I dunno just watching this Alaska woman with John McCain kind of reminded me of that. I started wondering what it would have been like if they had won the White House? Would she have tried everything like Lucy did to get her way? Then it struck me it could be funny as long as it wasn't real.

3. I don't think we'd stir that pot.
My idea is to ridicule her and other's like her so that they don't come back on the political stage again, but we don't need to go down the really dark parts of her psyche, like the fondness for killing things.

I understand what you are saying though. She's been so disgusting that it would be hard to make her likable. It's just on a whole different level, her presence in the media has been unintentionally humorous.

2. Nah - beneath the ditziness you could tell Lucy was basically decent
Palin comes across to anyone who can think as grasping, avaricious, ambitious, and evil under the surface patina of ditzism.

If you would have told me a year ago that there would be someone on the political scene more loathsome and vile than boosh I would've told you that you were full of shit. Now, I'd have to commend you for your foresight.

There's something basically wrong with people who attempt to make a virtue out of stupidity.

4. I agree. Lucy was likable and decent.
I think this character based on Sarah Palin could emphasize her stupidity without the vileness and still get the digs in the right places. Isn't that what Seinfeld sort of did with the character of George?

5. I couldn't see them inspiring a sitcom, but def a program like "Profit,"
that early '90s series with Adrian Pasdan where he played that corp sociopath. It was brill! A little along the lines of Dexter, except much more cold-blooded.

Their campaign could inspire years worth of episodes.

10. Yes, that would work.
I'm not a writer but I see such a wealth of material here for some savvy writers and producers to grab on to.

8. no
I think it would do too much harm to women. I would like to see a woman as president in my lifetime and a show like that certainly would not help.

9. Lucille Ball was called before HUAC and defied them, naming no "names".
http://www.hollywoodusa.co.uk/HollHillsObituaries/lucilleball.htm

In 1953, she was subpoenaed by the House Committee on Un-American Activities because she had registered to vote in the Communist party in 1936 at her socialist grandfather's insistence (per FBI FOIA-released documents in this declassified FBI file).

In response to these accusations, Arnaz quipped: "The only thing red about Lucy is her hair, and even that's not legitimate." Ball survived this encounter with the HUAC, naming no names.
