We get another Senate seat and Sarah doesn't get her political jones for a nationally prominent office fulfilled.

That "GOD" was not opening that door for her! Of course you could also say that he already "closed" the door on her "ambition" since they lost the bid for the white house!

4. yeah-- it wasn't until today that I realized that the real consequence of ousting Stevens... |

...from the Senate, if he's elected, is that it gives Palin a route into a Senate seat. Of course, she'd have to campaign for the seat to keep it-- if I'm not mistaken Alaska requires a special election, but she could appoint herself in the interim and then run as the "incumbent." Or is that the "incompetent?"

5. Another reason why she needs to stay in Alaska |
|
If oil prices stay low then Alaska is going to have serious budget problems: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/james-love/alaska-bloated-state-budg_b_125274.htmlThis will cause serious problems with her popularity especially if the oil dole is cut off. If she escapes to DC then the next AK gov will wind up taking the brunt. She needs to own this mess.

They always criticized Tony Knowles' governorship, but he was governor when oil was $9 a barrel, and the state had budget issues. With the price of oil so very high over the past couple of years, Sarah Palin has had much more money at her disposal, the state's oil royalties, and she made being governor look easy, like she was in control, doing a "heckuva job," while taking liberties with travel and per diem. Nobody was paying attention, though, because times were good.
Now I wonder if she can transition into this more frugal era. She can't be entrusted with any national significance, not even by her base, until she begins to deal with this state's issues. She must come down out of the clouds, return to Alaska and prove to us that she can finish the job she WAS elected to. She owes it to us, and if she can't deliver, she needs to be recalled or at least reined in until 2010 and then voted out.
She's a con artist, but her cover is kind of blown now.

7. At least not immediately. |

If we don't keep a close eye on her, my guess is she'll try to run for Lisa Murkowski's seat in 2010. I always thought she'd take that path -- this VP thing came out of right field, and revealed some pretty ugly stuff that we hadn't been aware of before. It's up to Alaskans now to rein in her ambition. I certainly hope we're up to the task.
