today henry paulson declared that bu$hco is robbing the treasury blind
U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson Jr. said today his priority for the $700 billion bailout program will be to bolster banks and consumer lenders, such as credit card, student loan and car loan companies, rather than supporting other struggling industries.

Paulson said officials are also seeking ways to help the nation's struggling homeowners, but he offered no new plan for how the government money might be used to stem the foreclosure crisis. Some of the existing proposals for homeowners, he warned, amounted to a subsidy or spending program, while Treasury's program involves "investment, not spending."

Notably absent from his list of priorities were the nation's automakers, or any other industry beyond banks and other lenders.

5. Thing is, he just didn't decide that today. It was always in the works for Goldman Sacs Paulson.

11. So let me get this straight:
1. Paulson originally asked for 700 bln. to do whatever he thought best with

2. Congress voted it down; then voted an 800 bln bill with restrictions (and goodies for some congress critters)

3. Paulson gets his vote; now he is going back to doing whatever he wants with the money, despite the wording of the bill.

4. Congress does nothing.

5. Americans are forgetting about it in the aftermath of the election and the celebrating.

Conclusion: Paulson never intended to follow any of Congress's restrictions, Congress never planned to hold him to those restrictions, and everyone figured a short delay would be enough time for the American people to be distracted enough not to notice that the law was being violated.

Is this it?

16. Brings to mind a certain saying....
"There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again."

20. To date, three banks have agreed to modify or restructure
loans. Citigroup, Chase and I think bank of America. So, I guess, if your loan isn't with one of these, you're screwed. What a mess.

25. It's really simple if Pelosi and Reid would follow one simple
rule....

Congress giveth and Congress can taketh away....

But Pelosi and Reid won't do it even though Paulson spits in their face.

They are ineffectual and should be replaced.
