Lieberman will stay in the caucus and will retain hs chairmanship of the oversight committee |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-12-08 11:31 PM by Husb2Sparkly
He will promise the moon. Our side will wimp out and accept it.
He will use his chairmanship to start hearings against Obama.
No one will stop him.
On this one, my crystal ball is clear in the near term vision, but a little fuzzy on the last part.

1. "He will use his chairmanship to start hearings against Obama." |
|
This is HIGHLY unlikely, as the Dem caucus would remove him immediately.

as soon as I walked in and she was interviewing Bayh, who said they could dump him at any time, that Lieberbutt owes an apology, and that they will not put up with the same crap from him that he doled out on the campaign trail.

11. They are making a huge mistake. |
|
Right now is the time to get Lieberman out of the party -- now while the Republicans are at their most unpopular. If they wait, Lieberman will look like a martyr. This is the most stupid move politically that the Democrats in Congress have ever made, and they have made a lot of stupid moves.

19. They need to take away his chair. If he still wants to caucus with Dems, fine. |
|
As far as the 60 filibuster goes, Lieberman will vote however he's going to vote when it comes to cloture anyway.

8. That's the part where my crystal all goes a little cloudy. |
|
I absolutely think he would do it.
If the Dems allow him to stay in the caucus, that emboldens him, early mea culpas notwithstanding.
Depending on the mood of the senate and the country, he will once again show his true colors.
Who was the first breast beater after the Clinton blow job was known?
Answer: Holy Joe.
Joe biting the hands that feed Joe is NOTHING new.

leash. Stray one inch away, he's gone. The rethugs have nothing to offer him.
He's already a has-been and knows it.

16. I don't think that plays well |
|
If he is dumped AFTER he starts hearings, how does that look? It makes it look like he started a legitimate investigation and was quashed for political reasons by a one party dictatorship. Naturally, Democrats won't have the guts to do then what they apparently lack the guts to do now. It would make Lieberman into a rightwing media hero, whereas now he's just a loser who could not deliver for McCain.

18. Yes. They should also find a place for bush in the new admin. "Keep him on a tight leash. |

Do you buy that? I didn't think so.

10. This is why some folks think the Dems don't have a spine. |
|
Just imagine if Lieberman was a repug and campaigned for the Dems. Imagine if he gave
a speech at the Democratic convention, maligning the repug candidate for president.
Do you think the repugs would welcome him back with open arms? Hell no! Yeah, yeah,
I heard Bayh on Rachel giving the reasons why he should stay, if he loses his chairmanship
he will resign and the repug gov would appoint another repug, that he caucuses with the dems
90% of the time, blah, blah, blah. I say take the hit and toss him out on his flabby ass. The
rank and file want him out but as usual so what. This sounds like DLC bullsh*t to me. I am
just too disgusted.

12. Is it possible people are thinking about the Georgia runoff? |
|
I mean, if the results in Alaska hold up and there are just over 200 votes out of 3 million to be found for Franken in the MN recount, we could be looking at Georgia for the 60th seat. Are people perhaps wary of Lieberman's perceived 'power' if they *do* get to 60?
