13. 61 chronologically
but I'd bet a lot older than that physiologically.

Many of us from that time didn't expect to make it to 40 and getting to 60 is a real shocker.

4. Goddamn....if there is a heaven....
They have ONE hell of a band up there.
I can see Jimi and Duane Allman tearing it up with Mitch and Buddy Miles doing that dual drumming thing.

All my hero's are gone.

Shit, I'm getting old.

8. Mitch Mitchell was really a jazz drummer in a great rock band
He really was a great musician, and essential to the band's sound.

It is also odd that there is a whole generation of rockers who die in their fifties and sixties. They must have put in too much milage in their early years to live to a ripe old age.

9. Jazz Drummer
Wasn't Cream (Jack Bruce, Eric Clapton) also a jazz/rock band?

10. I don't know.
With too many Cream songs I feel like I'm listening to the drummer in a marching band. He was good but very English.

16. All the best drummers are jazz drummers.
Mitch Mitchell, Carl Palmer, Ginger Baker, Billy Cobham, Bill Bruford, Buddy Rich... I guess the exceptions are Keith Moon and John Bonham.

14. A great group.
Mitch Mitchell also played at the Rock 'n Roll Circus, with John Lennon, Eric Clapton, and Keith Richards.

18. Right.
Thanks. And I agree!

I just re-looked at one of my favorite photos, and indeed, there is Yoko. How could I forget her? (I have some rare recordings of her and David Peel that he gave me years ago. They made some strange music!)

19. Well, now that I look back at it too...
It looks more like she wasn't an official part of the band, though it was obviously all very amorphous that night.

Rock and Roll Circus is also notable for an awesome performance of A Quick One by The Who: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOG12sE-krw

20. Those were the days.
I also liked Hendrix with the Band of Gypsies. My kids think that my taste in music is caught in a time warp, but I really don't think anything since compares with that era. I thought the Plastic Ono Band was outstanding, though I'd have liked it better if Mitch Mitchell had been in it.
