What are you doing Saturday? Want to make history?
Edited on Thu Nov-13-08 02:01 AM by FreeState
Seriously - what are you doing Saturday? Have you ever seen the march's of MLK and wished you were there? How about the protests of the Vietnam war? Wish you were there too?

Now is your chance to be part of history. The National Day of Protest on Saturday will more than likely be in the history books of tomorrow. You have a chance to take part and experience it. Bring your family, your neighbors and your friends. There will be thousands of others doing the same thing in cities around the world. This literally is going to be one of the largest protests in American history.

Dont miss out on your chance to change the world. In 10, 20, 30 years you will be able to say "I was part of that" - your children and your grand children will look at you in awe and wish they too had been there.

Join in.

I know you want to....

4. I didn't go last Sunday because I didn't have a sitter on short notice.
I can't take LeftyKid to protests, he doesn't handle loud noise well. But this weekend his father will watch him so I can go, and a lot of people from my school are going.

5. Thats great... :)
Its been amazing to me how this is all coming about - with no real leadership -its all grassroots. How I wish Harvey Milk was around to see this - and maybe speak...

14. 1960s war protestor signing in...
...and I would love to go and had planned to go to my local event in South Bay SoCal and I know that I could make my aching old body and my swollen joints quiet down long enough to allow me to again hoist a sign and walk a few miles in protest of that POS Prop 8 bullshit, but....

I managed to get myself, although I am officially a retired lawyer, involved in a lawsuit and we are doing depo's all day Saturday....

So...someone, younger who has a lot of energy, please hoist a sign for this old 60s lib, Hepburn, OK?

TIA...:patriot:

22. K & R
We REALLY need to keep these posts kicked if we can. Our attention isn't diverted towards the Presidential/Congressional/Senatorial campaigns now. We need to use the same momentum that got Obama elected to reverse H8.

25. Still not sure? Check this out... San Diego is going to break a world record

Huge Prop 8 Protest
Saturday, November 15th

Please forward and repost to help spread the word. San Diego will be taking part in nationwide protests against Proposition 8 this Saturday. There are 2 coordinated events happening in San Diego. The first one is a march which starts at 10:30am at 6th & Upas in Balboa Park. The march will go through downtown and will end at the rally site at the County Administration Building.

At 1pm there will be a huge rally at the County Administration Building. It's located at 1600 N. Harbor Drive right near the Star of India on the bay. This is going to be a huge event and we expect well over 20,000 people and we expect national media attention. We encourage everyone to come out and protest Prop 8 and stand up for equal rights for every one. If you can' t make the march, come straight to the rally site at 1pm.

Please make a big effort to reach outside of our community for support. Invite your family, tell your co-workers, knock on your neighbor's door, make calls and send texts. If individual rights can be taken away by a simple majority vote, who is next? We must unite and fight for our rights. Please note, however, that this will be a positive and peaceful protest.

We are also going to attempt a world record human rainbow flag attempt. This will consist of thousands of people holding up colored posterboard. It's going to be quite a sight and is sure to get us national exposure.

29. Reminder about signs - no sticks allowed!
Most city's will not allow sticks attached to signs... so remember that when making your signs... if in doubt of your cities laws just leave the sticks at home...

If your going in San Diego they are trying to focus the signs on positive messages to our supportive Mayor and others in the state... so try and think of good ones:)
