Rush Limbaugh gives $58K SUV to financially-struggling listener
Limbaugh gives Kerrville caller new SUV

Belinda Davis just wanted to get something off her chest. So she called the Rush Limbaugh radio show to vent and, much to her surprise, ended up with a new Chevy Tahoe.

Davis, a Kerrville resident, didn't like all the attention and praise celebrities got for supporting Obama, while working stiffs like her and her husband were ignored. A lady at the Kerr County Republican Headquarters suggested she call Limbaugh. Davis did, and after a few tries she was put on the air.

“We don't eat out,” she said. “We don't buy anything brand new. We didn't use air conditioning all summer and we hardly go into town because gas is so much. We started getting some food stamps and that has helped a lot. Rush didn't know any of this.”

Much like Joe the Plumber, who John McCain made famous during his presidential campaign, Davis said that although her household would likely get a bigger tax cut under Obama's plan than McCain's, she hopes that her jewelry business grows and doesn't want to be punished by higher taxes if that happens. Her main reason for supporting McCain, however, was that she thinks he would have handled the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan better than Obama will.

Have fun paying the taxes on that!
And I'm sure she's gonna love the gas expenses even if prices have come down. Way to bankrupt a listener Rush...

destroy this Limbaugh loving POS before she becomes some kind of media hero! She needs to be investigated up one side and down the other.

9. She's clearly hanging herself with her own words - admitting that
they had to use food stamps, while being part of a crowd that would scream "SOCIALIST!!!!" at the very mention of Barack Obama!

Another thing so typical of the wingnut crowd, ala Joe the Plumber - the belief that any day now, their presently-struggling business will suddenly take off and they'll be absolutely swimming in a giant pool filled with "Benjamins"...the delusional attitudes are just mind-boggling.

5. Won't she have to pay taxes on that $58,000 now?
That will be a sizeable chunk of tax to someone who is having a rough time.

12. If its a gift. she won't
If its truly classified as a gift, then limbaugh will have to pay gift taxes on it.

If she won it as some sort of contest, then she will be responsible for the taxes.

23. Limbaugh may give $12,000 as a gift tax free to an individual.
So the woman and her husband could each receive $12,000 from Limbaugh and he would have to pay gift taxes on the remaining value of the vehicle. The woman would have to pay any applicable state sales taxes based on the value of the vehicle. Or Limbaugh could pay applicable state taxes and fees for them if he so chose but that amount would add to the gift tax assessment.

6. Rush Couldn't Get A Good Deal On A Trade-In So He Gave The Gas Guzzling Tahoe Away.....
he killed two birds with one stone. He gets rid of his gas guzzling Tahoe that no car dealer really wants sitting on their lot - because no one will buy it and to boot - he will probably try to get a 'charitable deduction write-off' on his taxes.

...i couldn't care less about belinda davis' problems. it's because of people like her that we're in the mess we're in. people like her voted for chimpy twice, giving us 911, the supression of scientific research, two crappy wars, more environmental deregulation, failing financial institutions and the worst economy since the great depression.

so, cry me a river belinda. we're all suffering. and it's thanks to tards like you and the rest of the idiot repuke voters over the last 8 years.

26. It might not be a high-end jewelry business.
She could be doing beadwork at her kitchen table and selling it at craft fairs, or more likely in this economy, TRYING to sell it at craft fairs. Been there, done that! On a really bad day you don't even make back your $25 space rental.

What I want to know is why is does this IDIOT think she's going to be in a higher tax bracket any time in the near future? Apparently there are a hell of a lot of idiots like that running around, who would desperately love to be the kind of person who can afford to pay (and therefore gripe about) her high taxes. The Republicans know ALL about these morons and have been manipulating them for years.

pay taxes if she ever makes enough to pay them so that others can eat. I hope she enjoys her new lawn ornament. Wonder if she knows she will have to sell a lot of jewelry to pay the taxes on it.

24. You know what pisses me off so much about Belinda and Joe the Plumber, et al, all conservative
voting hypcrites.

I vote progressive. I vote to help out those who fall on hard times.

But you know what...right now I'm going through some hard financial times and it never even dawns on me to go get welfare or food stamps. I'm not putting it down...I vote for people who believe that sometimes people need a helping hand...but I was raised to kind of just tough it out...mind you, I don't have kids....

All of this is to say, that these idiots hate social welfare programs, they hate taxes, yet all of them have tapped into those resources at some time in their lives.

I think what this all boils down to is pure bigotry...they think it's OK for them b/c times are just, well golly gee, tough. But when black people use these resources these hypcrites have been brainwashed to believe it's because they are lazy and aren't real Americans.

The utter total complete irrationality of this woman and many others has destroyed our country. If Al Gore and John Kerry had been in the White House, we would be in much better shape with better jobs for people, better regulation to keep us out of this meltdown, etc.

But the reason we cannot get through to these people now is because of the daily hate spewing of Rush and Hannity and Glen Beck, etc.

This country desperating needs the Fairness Doctrine put back in place. Who cares if there is a backlash? The only people who are going to be enraged about it are dumb asses like this woman who would never, ever, ever vote for a Democrat (or anyone who really had her interests at heart) in the first place!!!!!!!!!!!

I think this is the simple Ocrams Razor reason: ie bigotry. Never really thought about it but it IS the simple reason. They feel that they themselves are deserving and others are not.

"A bigot is a person who is intolerant of opinions, lifestyles, or identities differing from his or her own, and bigotry is the corresponding state of mind. Bigot is often used as a pejorative term against a person who is obstinately devoted to prejudices even when these views are challenged or proven to be false or not universally applicable or acceptable."
