Obama Appointing Monsanto's Buddy for USDA Head? |
|
For whatever sway any folks might have over Obama's appointment decisions, I post this. Title of piece speaks for itself: Six Reasons Why Obama Appointing Monsanto's Buddy, Former Iowa Governor Vilsack, for USDA Head Would be a Terrible Idea. http://www.organicconsumers.org/articles/article_15573.cfm

I'm an Iowan, and Vilsack is DLC to the core.
He also stood up for Bush's illegal wiretapping crimes, justifying Bush's circumventing the FISA courts as necessary in the fight on terror.
Geez. Bummer.

2. As someone who eats arugula, he should know where it comes from, and why |

he's eating it. I hope they don't have a strong voice or a seat at the table.

3. K & R - that's absolutely outrageous! |
|
I was so hoping Obama would appoint someone the opposite of Vilsack as head of the USDA. This is a slap in the face of consumers, who like me are trending towards local food sourcing and organic food and away from agribusiness and Frankenfood. We consider Monsanto public enemy #1 for a number of reasons I don't need to elaborate on here.
I clicked on your link and joined the Organic Consumers Association. Thanks for posting it--I wasn't even aware there was such an organization.

6. It doesn't say that he's appointing Vilsack, just that it would be a bad idea. |
|
Have there been rumors of Obama appointing Vilsack?

8. Okay so you do not want someone connected with monsanto - I get |
|
that but I am also aware that most of the farmers in this nation are still hooked into that system. Who do you recommend that could promote healthier farm practices and still be listened to by those farmers who are still hooked? Don't get me wrong it is very likely that my daughter is severely disabled because of the chemical soup farming has made of our drinking water but I also know how stubborn the farm community is. I seriously doubt that Iowa farmers voted for the kind of change we are talking about here.

Vilsack is not a good choice. He is very conservative; not progressive at all!

Oh yaa baby, deeper, harder, oohhh yaaaaa, ooohhhh sweet Jeeeeebus.
What do you mean you're done for the night...you're not even President yet.
What do you mean, "it's in the bag, I don't have to pretend any more?"
Is that all that I mean to you, a quick screw? "Yes, and I thank you very much for your support."
Well, just don't tell Dennis about this, many of us thought that you and he were similar.
"Okay, but don't tell Michelle either, she thought the same."

11. Vilsack Would Be A Great pick For That Position. Obama's Done GREAT With His Proposed Picks So Far! |
|
Tom Vilsack would do a great job as USDA head and Iowans seem to love him and agree that he'd do an amazing job in that position. He has the experience and results and I see nothing wrong with this pick whatsoever.
