I love Sarah Palin with all my heart.
Edited on Thu Nov-13-08 04:37 PM by WilliamPitt
Leave aside the fact that she was the deciding factor for millions who voted for Obama last week; the sheer magnitude of her inadequacy for the post she sought made her a pivotal factor in a lot of in-booth decisions across the republic.

Before Palin, my hero in this election was Huckabee; he stayed in long enough to split the fundy vote between Romney, Rudy and the others during the primaries, crippling each of them in turn, which left the GOP base to choke on McCain once he was the last one standing...McCain, whom that base despises.

Huckabee did that, and he should get a parade for it. Now, however, Huck is #2 to Mrs. Palin on my hero list. For McCain, she was the campaign equivalent of two torpedos hitting his battleship below the waterline. She's outdoing even that amazing feat right now, and it is wonderful. How?

Easy. She won't go away.

This is a good thing. This is excellent. I want her on TV, every TV, at all hours, I want her to be an inescapable presence that will annoy all of America deeply, broadly and widely for as long as possible...Cuz whenever she is on the TV, the talking heads start chirping about her prospects for 2012. Here is this buffoon whose incompetence and incoherence virtually immolated the GOP ticket singlehandedly, and she just won't go away, which means she is continuing to humiliate and marginalize an already humiliated and marginalized GOP...with every moment she's on a screen.

The more we hear and see her, the better our chances for another big election in 2010 become. The more we see her, the weaker the GOP becomes.

I love Sarah Palin. Keep it coming, governor. You are my hero. Palin 2012: Cuz Duh You Betcha!

:toast:

P.S. She was also the opening Tina Fey used to display her comic genius.

P.P.S. Turn off the TV if she's making you crazy. It works, she goes away, I swear.

;)

Side question:
Who's paying for all her burly security now? Are they volunteers? Contractors?

10. Former candidates get SS protection for 120 days after the election
Their site:

http://www.secretservice.gov/protection.shtml

Says the SS protects, among other notables, "Major presidential and vice presidential candidates, and their spouses within 120 days of a general presidential election."

Smart.

16. Nice to see you around again, Will ...
I despise this woman .... and I especially despise the media who seems to have assumed the mantle of 'Palin Rehabilitation Service' on her behalf ...

I cannot believe that 'rational' republicans want Palin anywhere NEAR the 2012 ticket, and so the impetus for her rehab cannot be borne by the upper mechanism of the party itself ...

But what then is driving her constant access ? ....

I don't get it ... except by assuming the media is itself enamored with her notorious celebrity, which can certainly be the case .... She is like a slow motion train wreck, as one DUer described ... I am sure the 'gotcha main stream media' is just doing their job .. right ?

Stick around Will .... We are all the better for your presence ...

Enjoy it while we can. Will we really be talking about her a year from now? Especially if Begich wins? How long were we talking about Katherine Harris? Palin will drop off people's tv's and need to run for something else in 2010 if she wants to come back. Is the other Senate seat in Alaska up by then?

24. I'm not sure just being in the House is an attractive option for someone who is a sitting governor.
It would sort of seem like a step down. That's why I mentioned the Senate. She'll need to run for something again in the midterm to have any hope of staying in the public eye and I'm not sure she has many options that way.

20. Sarah's base was not all that excited about Romney or Giuliani
pro-choice and pro-gay Giuliani? Romney, maybe sorta, but he's a Mormon which is not much better than a muslim in their eyes. It was more like Romney, Giuliani and Thompson took away from Huckabee, thereby leaving McCain, who also won some of the base, getting endorsed by Hagee and Paisley and tying himself to Bush, which he later tried to backpedal from.

p.s. It does not work to turn off the TV. She is all over DU :scared: She's everywhere, she's everywhere.

I could almost see every republican Governor in the nation
screaming as she said she spoke for them. She is mind numbingly
stupid and thinks the more she talks the better she looks but
the exact opposite is true. Hell, after she was found guilty of
ethics violations in Alaska she said that the panel had vindicated
her.

"It would be my honor to assist and support our new president and the new administration,
yes, and I speak for other Republicans, other Republican governors also, they being willing
also to again seize this opportunity we have to progress this nation, together, a united front."

You of all persons should know not to EVER underestimate them and the Media they Control. Unless Obama sends Avenging Angels into the FCC we can be assured the RW will have Obama running against Sarah Palin with Huckabee for Veep in 2012.

I don't see her as you do. I see her as a threat that needs to be nipped in the bud. But, as usual we Dems just think someone is funny and that folks will "see through her" and misjudge the support she will get from those who want to "BLAME McCAIN" and make her a hero.

Sorry...I don't take Mz. Mooseburger/Arial Wolf Hunger, as someone who seems as foolish to those who want to see Chimp in her to discount how she can be a threat.

What we've seen is the Republican party finally split into two parts-- cynical monied people wanting policies enacted to keep them rich and crazy bigots who want to suckle at Jesus' man teat.

I dearly hope that Palin launches a successful primary campaign in the next election cycle. Hell, I'll even toss her 25bucks or so. I just want to see that Frankenstein that put Bush II into power torn asunder. Without it the fundy base, there's no way that the wealthy Republicans can win. This looks like it's going to be a great eight years.

62. The best part about it is....
...Like the current narcissist in the White House, Sarah Palin will never be qualified for the job. For the rest of her political career we can pull her out, puff her up a little, and she'll dance straight back to stupid-land in front of the cameras. If the GOP gets smart and tries to neutralize her, it'll take only a whisper in her ear to get her to run as an independent and strip an automatic 23% of the vote away from the legitimate GOP candidate, guaranteeing a Democratic White House as long as her personality disorder can carry her beyond the Peter Principle.

This has been the best election ever, because we got two gift-wrapped prizes: a thoroughly competent, brilliant President-elect with an apparently iron-clad code of ethics, and Sarah Palin's Flying Circus, which will run and re-run for decades to come.

66. Lucic is a madman
That was awesome.

And for the Pats game...? Meh. I never really mind too much when we lose an excellent game; Cassel did everything right, but we have no secondary, and that's the name of that tune. I'd have gone for two at the end of regulation, but that's me.

My Jet fan friends have been gloating, until I remind them that they needed overtime and a favorable coin-toss to defeat the Patriots' second-string QB, third-string offense, and fourth-string defense. We have more injured soldiers than the Confederate Army had after Gettysburg. It is what it is.

Go Broons, go Celts, I love me some freakin' Wes Welkaaaaaaaahhhhh. ;)

P.S. If C.C. Sabathia becomes a Damn Yankee, I will light myself on fire.

64. I too appreciate her efforts also
the thing is that she's starting to bore me. So unimaginative. So inarticulate. I'm all for her being in the gop leadership because she will only hurt her party...but she bores me and for that reason I've stopped watching her.

69. Yes, I've turned her off, but I kept hoping the GOP governors
would let her go on and on about the dinosaurs and fruit fly research. It does so much for the Democratic party.

My only fear is that there are quite a few lunatics who like her and would prefer to see her in a position where she can muck it up worse than Bush* (if that is possible).

for the benefit of OUR SIDE.
