Democrats.com :Don't Let Bush Pardon Himself

Congratulations on the fabulous and historic election of President Barack Obama!!!

As we celebrate our new President-elect and all the changes he will bring to our nation, we must not turn a blind eye to the final actions of George Bush.

Incredibly, Washington is already buzzing with Bush's plans to block all investigations of his crimes and even to pardon everyone involved - including Cheney and himself. Chris Matthews is even counting down the days .

Does Bush have the power to pardon everyone in his administration? Yes.

Will he abuse that power to stay out of jail? Only if we let him.

We must create a groundswell of opposition to any pardons by George Bush, so he understands that he will be impeached and prosecuted for issuing corrupt pardons.

Please help us launch a massive movement against pardons by signing our petition to Congress and telling your friends:
http://www.democrats.com/pardon?

We will announce additional plans to stop Bush's pardons in the coming days. Read more about our efforts and join our discussion here:

Thanks for all you do!

Bob Fertik

3. Impeachment right now is the only hope

4. oh please...the pigmedia soon have no idea who junyer is
they're watching over the Youngster, and will avoid any mention of him unless it's heart warming....lol! meanwhile Bush has prepared blanket pardons for entire admin, and put them in with pardons for troops who MIGHT be accused later...so the dems forced to oppose pardon for the troops if they try act tough! hahaha.
Notice how the bush twins have gone totally off the radar, for years now, like condi rice and cheney have? Wonder why?

7. It's idiotic to spout the line that Bush has the power to pardon everyone in his administration.
These people are our political enemies and there's no reason for us to advance their propganda line

Bush might issue statements that purport to convey blanket pardons to various people. But it is, for example, clear that the authors of the Constitution intended the pardon power to be method for redress of injustice, not a method for shielding criminals from prosecution for any and all offenses. There are a number of related issues that could be litigated, though the actual decision to litigate would depend on political considerations and an analysis of prospects for success in the courts. In particular, a "self-pardon" seems unlikely to pass judicial review, as being inconsistent with the rule of law
