Want to make someone's day here on DU like someone did for me? Donate and give them a star!

I want to thank whoever donated and anonymously assigned a star to my account sooooo much! As some of you may know, like many others I am pretty bad off financially right now and could not afford to donate to DU this quarter. So I was THRILLED this afternoon to get home from job searching to find that some very nice person had donated and anonymously assigned me the donor star. In a time when things are looking tough all over, it absolutely made my day to come home and find that some anonymous DU'er had done such a selfless act for me. So again, thanks to my anonymous donor. :hug:

Times are tough for many right now, about that there is no doubt. But if you are in a position to donate, even if just a little, and assign a donor star to another DU'er, believe me, you will absolutely make their day. :pals:

1. How would one find out

who needs a star, as opposed to, say, someone who can harldy stand being here and wouldn't donate to save his life?

3. LOL! Good question. I have a couple thoughts...

One is - see who has a star beside their name but does not have the "I donated to the 4th quarter fund raising drive!" yet. That way you know they cared enough to donate before, but have not yet donated this time.

25. I do this every fund drive

I pick a number of names of folks who don't have stars, then I PM them and ask if I can donate for them. If they say yes, I do, if not, I don't.

It's an easy way, if someone is in the position to do it, to bring a smile to someone's face as well as donate to DU at the same time. Everyone wins yay! :woohoo:

The way people here can/will donate and give a star to someone else who can not afford to donate at this time is very heatwarming. To me it shows a level of compassion and caring among DU members that starkly contrasts with the bigotry and hatefulness coming out of the conservatives these days. :hug:

19. it's a great feeling for the giver too. I donate stars several times a year

since I'm a monthly donor, I like to kick in a few extra bux now and then and help out other DUers. I was very very poor a couple years ago and I literally had to roll change to make a $7 donation in 2005
