Terry McAuliffe for VA Governor, a possibility
Terrence McAuliffe, former Chairman of the DNC and Hillary Clinton campaign may run for governor, and has formed an exploratory committee on the matter. Terry is a great man who was educated at Catholic University and Georgetown Law, and has been successful in business. He made our party debt free for the first time ever in 2004, and helped us fight a very uphill battle for the Presidency and Congress in 2004 against an incumbent war time President with a boring uncharismatic inept guy as our candidate, and we only fell short 200k in Ohio, no fault of Terry. Terry also campaigned for Barack Obama heavily this fall, after a heated primary in which his candidate got more votes than any other primary candidate(arguably). We don't wanna give up the VA governorship, and the unknown nothings who are the others seeking the nomination may not win. Terry has a base in VA, a machinery as he's been in the area for a long time. His website is http://www.terrymcauliffe.com/ , and help us keep this governorship and have a gem as VA's leader, so https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/terrysfriends give now!

Tim Kaine is a good governor.

32. I'm from New York but live in Virginia as well
Deeds or Moran are MUCH better options than McAuliffe. Does he even have any kind of actual governing experience? I doubt it, he should stick to being a delusional supporter of Clinton or whatever DLC'er he is supporting at the time. I doubt McAuliffe knows much about VA aside from NOVA, and you need to get votes from other places to win. I feel a lot better about Brian Moran.

35. Terry is not only a great campaigners,
but he served as Chairman of Federal City National Bank at the age of 30, and most recently was an owner and Chairman of American Heritage Homes, converting a struggling company into one of Florida's leading home builders, building approximately 1,000 homes a year. He can raise money like no other, and knows the machine. He can manage things, including a state. Brian Moran won't get far, he will not outmachine McAuliffe anyway.

42. Are you kidding?
McClueless has to be one of the worst DNC heads we've ever seen. I would like to see that guy completely removed from Democratic politics, as he became a total joke during the primary trying to say that Clinton would win even after it was mathematically impossible. He is a delusional nut and I'm wondering how much he is paying you?

6. I agree
and he will never get my vote here in Virginia. Why doesn't he try in N.Y. since that is where he is from (Syracuse)of course if I was still in my home state of N.Y. I wouldn't vote for him there either. He did a terrible job in the DNC, I surely don't want him in charge of a state.

7. its not his fault kerry couldn't run a campaign,
as McAuliffe raised the most money for the DNC ever up to 2004. He is gonna be the Dem candidate, so you best do what's better for your state and country by voting him as opposed to some Republican. He also made the DNC debt free for the first time in its history.

We in Virginia are finally able to enjoy being a blue state, and our "reward" is to be treated to McAuliffe as governor?

8. either that or a Republican,
and McAuliffe has machine power, which he can build a permanent one there for future Dems if he is governor. He's been operating out of that state for years now and living there too. He's a great guy. Not to mention just that guy who was the party animal at college

25. Having McAuliffe run -- or run somebody else's campaign -- will get VA a Republican governor
In 2002, he snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in the off-year elections.

In 2004, he snatched defeat from the jaws of victory and we suffered four more years of the worst usurper ever.

In 2008, he went to work for the front runner Hillary Clinton and worked his magic yet again.

What would be best for the Democrats would be fot that loser to run as a Republican.

27. Terry McAuliffe was not the candidates
in 2002 and 2004. Plus, he didn't make Bush use scare tactics and his peeps against Max Cleland. 2002 was likely to be a Republican year cuz of 9/11 anyway. he was not John Kerry, who is the textbook of "defeat from jaws of victory." The DNC had all the money Kerry needed, and KERRY, not McAuliffe was running for Prez.

28. No, he was the DNC chairman
And he should have had better answers than he did for dirty GOP campaign tactics, like those Chambliss used against Senator Cleland. Would 2002 have been a Republican year? I don't know. But I do know it was the first time since 1934 that the party out of the White House lost seats in Congress.

That Kerry ran a bad campaign is true. Neveertheless, as chairman of the DNC, McAuliffe could have and should have provided some guidance and perhaps suggested a more aggressive and quicker response to the Swift Boat Liars. The DNC may have had all the money it needed, but McAuliffe had no clue how to use it.

Puff this guy up all you like. He's still a loser, and his record proves it.

30. you really don't think he tried
to help Kerry? he was on TV all the time for that guy. Of course he told Kerry to change his campaign, it was Kerry who wouldn't listen. And for people who say he didn't work hard for Congress, he had to split the money between inept Presidential candidate, Congress candidates, and governors. We split the governorship in such a bad election year, while the GOP got wrecked with them this year. His money may have helped Gregoire win that ultra close vote in WA that year.

31. I'm sure he tried his best
His best isn't good enough.

The election is about a year off. Hopefully, Virginia Democrats will find a better candidate who can hold the governor's office.

Otherwise, if it is McAuliffe, you'll be lucky if he has a plan A. If he does, you had better hope it works, because if it doesn't, you are hung out to dry. I can guarantee you he won't have a plan B.

37. apparently an election is a Special Olympics event....
Everyone gets to have a prize just for trying.

I don't want an (at best) earnest but woefully ineffective guy as governor of my state. And, yes, he'll have a huge machine behind him; a huge machine backing up an inept candidate who has no business being governor of any state is exactly what we don't need. Hell, even Palin was a mayor beforehand--McAuliffe's the consummate party apparatchik. He loses elections so he's of no use behind the scenes to the party, but they have to reward his years of dutiful party loyalty with a governorship. I just don't want it to be my newly-blue state that will be exposed to his incompetence.

12. he's not the one who told Kerry
to let Bush be "stronger" on terrorism, to let himself get painted as a flip flop, to give an awful acceptance speech at the DNC. He's also not the one who told him to pick Edwards. He raised more money than any DNC chair in history at that point, and made the party debt free back then. He can manage business well, which is what a state does.

11. Sorry
I prefer Brian Moran or Creigh Deeds for governor. I don't see Terry McCauliffe being able to win in other parts of the state and I don't think he has any experience with Virginia government. He also is not popular with the grassroots Democrats here in Virginia. And BTW, Creigh Deeds is not an unknown something. He almost became Attorney General and only lost by 320 votes.

in that state from 2001-2005 operating out of there. He knows the machine very well, which is a large part of getting elected. He knows the VA government therefore, as they have connections. who says grassroots are gonna come out for Deeds. Plus, McAuliffe will be well funded

I kinda think Deeds and Moran know a bit about VA government considering they are actually a part of it. Both have experience in the state legislature and I guarantee you they know more about the state than McClueless. They are running for governor because they actually want to help the state, not just because they're bored and need something to do.

I just told you that the other Democratic candidates are both elected officials in the Virginia government, just living in the state does not mean that you are an expert on their government. And he could get votes in McLean, but you need to get votes in Southern Virginia as well as Northern Virginia to win, and I doubt he could get those votes.

26. I don't see him as viable for VA
He's from NY, and sounds like it. If he is known for anything, it's for swearing up and down that he believes totally unrealistic things--how many times did he make Chris Matthews laugh, insisting Hillary was going to win the primary after it had become mathematically impossible? I don't hate him, but the guy has low credibility and will be seen by many Virginians as a carpetbagger. Running Terry will only earn VA a Republican governor. Can't we find someone more appealing?

McAuliffe will generate no enthusiasm whatsoever and would be easily defeated in a primary by any half-way decent candidate.
