One huge plus for NY if Clinton becomes SoS: Senator Robert F Kennedy Jr! |
|
Edited on Fri Nov-14-08 07:40 AM by Dennis Donovan
RFK Jr was rumored to be named by NY Governor Paterson to her seat if Hillary was given the nomination and ultimately elected POTUS.
Pretty cool, eh, NY?

Would she run against RFK Jr? Yikes.
Or she retires?

2. I love RFK Jr, but I think he would be demolished in the primaries and GE |
|
We live in an age now where trying pot or coke in college doesn't lose an election any more, but a heroin conviction probably would. I wish it wouldn't matter though. I think he'd be very good at representing people like me.

:(
Given what his family's been thru, and also given his record of service for environmental causes, I would hope even a heroin conviction could be forgiven.

...and was under court-ordered trestment afterwards. Probation for first-offense users is not out of line.:eyes:

just a little more fully than many others who drew the line at coke. I would hope his youthful dalliances would be forgiven, too. His conviction was for possession - not for trying to sell it at least.

And *anyone* can grow up to be President (so long as he is backed by one of our hereditary power broker families.)

Yes, he comes from a powerful family. Why should that be an immediate disqualifier? You're argument, considering the election of Brack Obama, is complete bullshit anyway. Yes, anyone can grow up to be president. Did you sleep through election day or something?

my guess is that Patterson would appoint Andrew Cuomo, the current state Attorney General. Cuomo wants to run for President some day, and he needs a launching pad. Had Spitzer stayed in office, Cuomo would have run for Governor at the end of Spitzer's term. Now, Cuomo is a threat to Patterson (he once alienated the Dem Party by primarying McCall for the Dem Gubernatorial nomination). I doubt he wants to remain AG for more than a term or two, and unless he takes on Patterson, he's not going to be the Governor anytime soon. Patterson may want to eliminate the threat to him posed by Cuomo, and Cuomo has a far better chance of running for President as a senator than he does as the state AG.
My guess is that Hillary is going nowhere. Kerry is going to bethe Secretary of State.

Howard Dean is taking that one, and as an M.D., he's better suited.
In any event, there's no way that Hill will give up a Senate Seat and potential leadership position for a "low-level" cabinet position.

27. Well I want RFK Jr. I want someone who is gutsy and who will fight the powers that be like a tiger. |
|
I want someone who is not afraid to come out and speak the truth about controversial subjects such as the stolen election of 2004, the connection between autism and the mercury containing preservative thimerosal in infant vaccinations and who, more to the point, has also worked tirelessly for environmental causes for years.
FYI RFK Jr. is not someone who is gonna kiss corporate a$$ and that is exactly what this country and planet needs.
RFK Jr. is the best person for the job with the exception of Al Gore.

32. Or what will really happen: Bloomberg will run in 2010 in the next election |
|
Edited on Sat Nov-15-08 05:32 PM by NYC Liberal
But wait, we just had the whole crap about him wanting to run for a third term (voters be damned). Won't matter because he'll drop that in a heartbeat. He'll go for whatever gets him the biggest spotlight, and Senator from NY will certainly get him that. Not to mention it would be a once-in-a-long time opportunity since Hillary and Schumer will pretty much be in office until they die or retire, or do something really egregious.
