8. one was along the lines of "there's no sense in investing taxpayer dollars |
|
in a company that is doomed to failure".
This was after Kucinich was drilling him on whether he knew that national city had applied for assistance, whether he knew that national city had been targeted by shortsellers, whether he gave a damn that the local economy was so impacted by the decision not to help. KK said that he never saw an application but that was probably because the app never actually made it to his desk. Then the zinger.
I saw this line of questioning 3x yesterday- it's as if Cspan had it on a loop or something.
Kucinich's response was "that statement will follow you for the rest of your career"

5. Kashkari keeps mentioning the "incentives" that are built into his |
|
actions, into the agreements, into the system that the Treasury has been applying. But -- of course, he does not mention the fact that those "incentives" are competing with other incentives. And thus far the other incentives, incentives to short sell, etc. are prevailing.
Kashkari is glib, but he does not listen and somehow I just don't think he is being completely forthright. He is just spouting right-wing theory and rhetoric. He came with something to sell. He looks, sounds and acts like a charlatan, or, to be kinder, like a magician who distracts his audience with a big show while the real action is going on in the hidden recesses of his sleeves. He's got something up his sleeve, but it does not have to do with stopping foreclosures of the homes of the little guys, much less their jobs.

6. Kucinich: "Our question is who are you working for." |
|
Wow! I can't quote verbatim the first part of what Kucinich said, but it really struck me. Something like, Nobody doubts, Mr. Kashkari, that you are working hard. "Our question is who are you working for."
That said it all.
Thanks Kucinich. Great job chairing that committee.
