Here is my idea for stimulating the economy
This is not something that has not been said before. I don't know if it's been said here though.
We need to make our own stuff. That's right. You want a refrigerator, it better be made in this country. You want toys for your kids? It has to have "Made in the USA" on it.
No more shit that poisons our families and pets from China. Bring American Made Products back and our economy will flourish. Free trade is fine when it is "trade" how much shit made in the USA do YOU think the Chinese are buying?
Oh - and I know there will be people who will flame me but go ahead...
Quit importing cheap crap and give Americans their fucking jobs back - we will all benefit.
Oh... and for those who think this is some anti-China rant.. wrong. It is Pro-American and wanting to save a sinking ship. We are drowning in debt. Drowning.

1. the problem is we are a consumption based economy instead of a product driven economy |
|
When the jobs started to leave in the 1980's and we switched to a consumption based economy, this day became inevitable. You can push the same dollars around for only so long.
America needs jobs, America needs to make things instead of serving things to people. We've lost so much in terms of output I'm not sure we can even get it back. We're so far behind in technology, and education... the outlook is very bleak.
But you are right, the way out of this mess will be to get people working on something tangible.
