My letter to Senators Byrd and Rockefeller about Lieberman
Here is the E-Mail I sent to both Senator Byrd and Rockefeller asking them to support stripping Lieberman of the Homeland Security Committee Chairmanship.

"Dear Senator Byrd,

Next week you will be asked to vote on the political fate of a fellow Senator, Joe Lieberman. During the run up to the last election Senator Lieberman played Judas to both his party and our soon to be elected Candidate, Barack Obama. Senator Lieberman's behavior was as reprehensive as it is unacceptable and it demands an appropriate response from his Party. There is simply no excuse he can now make for his behavior.

As you know Senator Lieberman heads the Senate's Homeland Security Committee. As its head he has avoided holding hearings on any matter that might reflect poorly on the current Republican Administration, indeed he has found little to concern the Committee entrusted to him even in these troubled times.

Just today Senator Leahy has spoken out demanding that Senator Lieberman be stripped of his Chairmanship. I am asking that you join with Senator Leahy in that demand. Considering Senator Lieberman's abandonment of his responsibility to conduct oversight and his embrace of the opposition Party he simply can not continue to represent the Democratic Party as Chairman of such an important Committee."

Another thing about Joe. He ran against and defeated a fine Democrat, Ned Lamont, who could have helped us a lot more than Joe did in the last two years.

5. Good letter, Thom!
You have a greater chance than I do in getting support from your senators.

Mary Landrieu & David Vitter are sure to be on Lieberman's side, but I'll write them anyway. If each holds true to how they've responded to my many e-mails in the past, Landrieu won't acknowledge having received it & Vitter will send one of his I'll-do-what's-best-for-my party-the-country form letters.
