The thing about Lieberman is, it isn't just about his behavior during this election. |
|
He has been steadfast in favor of Republican foreign policy and adamantly opposed to democratic alternatives. He has been wrong and demonstrated extremely poor judgment as is evidenced by the debacle we find ourselves in. He should not be Chair of any National Security Committee, not as punishment but because of his extremely poor judgment. He may do just fine on a technology committee or education or even Environmental, though that one would be shaky because of his Republican leaning of late but still way better than Homeland (I hate that name) Security.. He needs to be given a new committee if we want him to caucus with Democrats, just not one with National Security involved...He lacks the needed judgment..

1. He lost the democratic primary in 2006 and ran as an independent and won |
|
mainly due to republican support.
He has plainly rejected the democratic party, and they rejected him. Why are we still saddled with him?

2. He does vote eighty percent of the time with Democrats.. |
|
We should not forget that...He just does not deserve any Committeee dealing with the Security of our nation. He is unfit for that position.

3. I agree with that all the way...... |
|
I don't care if he stays with the dems but they need to strip him of his chairmanship. They also need to recognize that he is a democrat in name only but 100% repuke at heart, he will side with who ever is winning, the scum.

4. What mystifies me is why does anyone think |

they could trust him to keep his word on anything from here on in. Not only that I wouldn't be surprised if he suddenly remembered that he was in charge of presidential oversight. Something that never occurred to him these past two years.

This is less about punishment and more about judgement.
He has pretty well shown that HS is NOT the spot for him. Put him on the other committees you've mentioned, salve his giant ego in that way and let him save face. (I know, I bristle at the thought, too, but our President-elect is a bigger man than I, lol). But he is not on board with the incoming administration on HS issues at all. Not the spot for him.

And it may be even worse than that. While his counterpart in the House (Waxman) held hours and hours of House hearings on Bushco's malfeasance, Lieberman held none. Was Joe Blow actually using his position to PROTECT the Bushco criminals from scrutiny?
