The run-down of the Dear Leader's drinking habits comes courtesy of Kenji Fujimoto, a Japanese sushi chef employed by Kim in 1982. He wrote a book about his boss -- after he escaped the country. It includes tales of four-day banquets, at which Kim would order women in his private entertainment detail -- in keeping with fetching communist nomenclature, it was called the Pleasure Brigade -- to dance naked.

In 1989, Fujimoto married one of the PB dancers. The prankster Kim added a little known North Korean tradition. It seems Fujimoto drank himself into a stupor after the nuptials on a bottle and a half of, yes, cognac. "The next morning, Kim Jong-Il asked me whether I had pubic hair," Fujimoto wrote. "I answered, 'Yes' but he said, 'Let's go to the bathroom to check.' It was all gone. When I was intoxicated, someone seemed to have removed it.
