Is letting GM & Ford go bankrupt a plan to undermine unions and pension responsibility? |
|
All this resistance and indignation from the Chimp administration and the Republicans over "bailing out" Ford & GM just seems so false - especially when taking into account the huge amounts of money thrown at the financial sector without any strings attached. If GM & Ford were to truly go under, the effects would be devastating for the country. Are they just letting them enter "bankruptcy" so they can emerge as corporations unencumbered by unions or pension obligations?

pensions paid out to senior management. It's a dream come true for them.
I don't think we can allow the auto makers to fail. Too many jobs depend on the industry. There has to be some sort of "managed care" implemented, not "hospice."

6. No, it is letting worthless corporations die |

Nothing will EVER make these viable businesses, bail them out and they will be right back hat in hand in a matter of years.

Just one thing I will say on this: if the UAW goes under, along with the auto industry (GM/Ford/Chrysler and their suppliers), Democratic candidates will be seriously hurting for money in races in automotive parts of the country for the foreseeable future.
I tend to think long-term. It's a pesky habit.
