2. I would be comfortable with him as Sec. of State.
Aren't beards offensive in many cultures? Although when dealing with the Taliban he might want to have one.

5. I hope he gets it. He is calm, cool, and knows what diplomacy is all about. He speaks Spanish.

All of the mostly Spanish speaking nations in Central and South American are in a very delicate point in their existence. They are kicking out their rulers who sold them down the river for some kickbacks from the IMF, World Bank, and your pockets. Their rulers are living in Marbella, Coral Gables, Madrid, Palm Beach, and other nice places while the little people try to take back their rights. Many of their good leaders were assassinated by our leaders and friends.

Big things going on all over that have to be mended - he's big for the job.

I regret letting the air out of everything - but the DLC is very strong. Can Obama make changes with them? If yes, Hilary is OK.

Right now - I'll go for Richardson.

6. I agree!
Bill Clinton has WAY too many questionable foreign money-making deals that will need to be disclosed if Hillary gets serious about this position. I doubt the Clintons want this dirty laundry getting aired! Hillary will stay in the Senate.

Obama offered her a face-saving gesture. She can say she turned the job down for whatever reason, her huge group of fans will be happy that she was asked, and then life goes on with a true diplomat in this position! (That's my interpretation, at least.)

9. Good point, samdogmom! I hadn't thought of the Clinton corruption as a bar to her
saying yes. There especially is a cloud over their dealings with the very corrupt, very fascist, murdering dirtbags running Colombia. I have shuddered, in recent posts, to think of what Hillary as Sec of State would mean as to Obama repeating BIG Clinton and Bush mistakes in Colombia and in South America in general. The Clintons and the Bushwhacks have cozied up to and supported the worst elements in South American society, and have supported their violence and corruption in Colombia with $6 BILLION in military aid, and have at the same time have looted and destroyed other countries' economies with "free trade" and other neoliberal policies, and then demonized the very leaders whom the people elected to remedy those wrongs. They have also spent millions trying to destabilize democratic countries.

A backasswards policy. Not unusual for the U.S. But the Clintons have a lib image that does not hold up when you look at South America. There they have been in cahoots with the very worst people--Medellin Cartel Colombian prez Uribe and his death squads. It is not possible for that kind of cahoots to be clean.
