911 dispatcher fired for hanging up on caller

The woman was clearly being attacked and was trying to protect her child. Listen to the call.

is trying to speak to woman but she is clearly trying to get a child to come over to her. Dispatcher says "Call me back when you are ready to talk" or something similar and hangs up.

dispatcher (he, not a her) is fired.

Why did it take 3 months for him to be let go? The guy is a 23 year veteran of the department. He claimed in the story that the firing was in retaliation of a suit he filed. If the two incidents are unrelated, why did it take so long for the department to fire him?

Why is no one on this thread giving him the benefit of the doubt?
