12:55 AM news conference to announce fire evacuations..Sylmar CA
Anyone with family friends who might be asleep, better call 'em & wake em up..

This is just NUTS..

This one's a big one, and has caught a lot of people unaware..

There's even a hospital (Olive View medical Center)that's sustained some damage..

The hospital's surrounded by flames & all the trees on fire near it..

~Channel 13 in LA has a live feed from the fire... cannot find it online though

7. Poor Sylmar .... Buffeted by earthquakes and fires ...
As a former Californian, I lived through MANY such events ....

The Sylmar quake in 1971 ALSO hit the Olive View Medical Center .... It sustained major damage, if I recall ....

What a fucked up deal .....

8. I'm sitting here waiting on refugees right now. I was really hoping we'd not have a big one this yr
If it's Olive View MC, it can't be far from a LOT of structures.

Only nice thing about living in the middle of cat sand high desert ... nothing to see but not a lot to burn.

10. This stupid female reporter's standing out there in flying embers, and
her long hair is flying around...just waiting for an ember to catch her hair on fire..

I cannot believ that a fireman has not told her to cover her hair..

In the Antelope Valley

That was a burn area a couple of years ago so hopefully there won't be a lot of fuel in terms of brush. :(

25. That's a new fire
We were evacuated at 2 am from Granada Hills/Bee Canyon area.

We're back now--everything is covered in ashes. Our pool is dark grey, has about an inch of ashes on the top.

It was stopped here at Sesnon, a couple blocks from my house--primarily I think because the brush there had already burned a month ago.

Corona fire still raging, I think.

26. It's a catastrophe. I've been watching coverage online since
around three this morning.

There is a raw live feed from a chopper at KCAL9, FYI.

This is unbelievable.

31. I actually prefer 980, KFWB.
It's just that I live in AZ, and I can receive KNX on my C. Crane Radio, but not 980.

I totally agree. KFWB is the better of the two stations, IMO.
