I'm not sure why I'm the one doing this but I'll throw it out there. Hillary for Attorney General? |
|
She is a lawyer after all and I don't think there's any doubt she'd be a fierce fighter for civil rights. I'd trust her with this country's justice system in a heartbeat, and y'all know I'm not exactly the biggest Hillary fan that came down the pipe.

3. I thought that 's what he'd offer. |
|
Or Supreme Court, but I heard she doesn't want that.
I think Secretary of State is bigger. I really wanted Edwards for AG, but I don't see that happening now!

4. If Hillary is interested more in the welfare of this country than a celebrity post |
|
I would think she would even see that there are better fits for her in the administration or simply to remain a powerful Senator. Maybe AG isn't high profile enough, I don't know how you could think Supreme Court Justice isn't but I think she's better suited where she can get in there and help create policy than simply be "the voice" of the President essentially, which is what a good SOS needs to be. Don't you think that would almost be hobbling to her?

5. I would say SoS or she stays in the Senate. |
|
She would make a fine AG, but I don't see her going there.

IF Obama thoroughly investiagtes the Bushies, having a Clinton as AG could give the appearence of impropriety and a flavor of "revenge" to it.
Let me be perfectly clear about why this matters, and it has NOTHING to do with the collective nonsense of the Savage Weiners, Hannidiots, Dittoheads, Coultergeists, and other spiritual descendants of the KKK and yes, they certainly bear some resemblence to the Nazi Followers of the 1920s (but much less violent).
What it has to do with is that a Clinton as AG, prosecuting the very vile Bushies who unjustly pursued them, while a very appealing thought, is not the way to show that we Democrats, even maltreated and abused as we have been, will not stoop to behaving like Bushies (in their prsuit of injustice for their enemies) in OUR pursuit of JUSTICE.
Again, it is not her personally, just the bad circumstances. She should be in an Obama Cabinet, and would be a fine addition...just not as AG.
She would also make a KICK ASS Senate Majority Leader, enforcing discipline among the ranks in ways Harry Reid can only probably dream about.

10. I think they'll go the "revenge" route anyway but valid point |
|
It is the one piece of baggage that will essentially follow her wherever she ends up. Even if Bill never had the stupidest scandal in the universe happen she would still be tied to a "former administration" and therefore, in their limited brains, guilty of any foible that President may have had.

8. I'd rather see her in the Senate, helping push health care through |
|
but that's just me. If Obama feels compelled to give her a cabinet post, it should be Health and Human Services. While she might be adequate as AG, she would be outstanding at HHS.

to titillate the masses with window dressing posts. We've had that for eight years and every department in the government is in one crisis or another.
Better the masses be bored and frustrated by the dullness of government that works.

19. let's see: you argue in another thread that there are more qualified |
|
candidates for SoS. Well, at least there, Hillary has a lot of stature in other countries, and she has experience on the world stage.
She has less experience when it comes to the Justice Dept. and there are several people being considered who are far more qualified than she is- Janet Napolitano, for example.
