We used to have gubernatorial appointments, but we voted overwhelmingly to have special elections after Frank Murkowski appointed his daughter Lisa to his Senate seat. It works for us -- we might have ended up with Sarah appointing Todd or something (or HERSELF :ack: ) is Stevens were to win this thing up here.
