Greetings, Democratic Underground. As indicated prior to the election, a second and final phase of survey recruitment will take place from November 15th to 17th. As part of this recruitment, we will be sending invitation PMs to randomly selected individuals in several forums.
As referenced in this thread:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x4352449 , we have permission from the admins to recruit participants from DU for this study. If you have any questions about the study, please feel free to contact the researchers via PM or by writing an email to kms47@pitt.edu. We would be happy to answer any questions or concerns about the survey that you might have. We have been approved by an Institutional Review Board and would be happy to provide contact information for an IRB participant liason upon request.
Regarding the nature of the survey: it is a short survey (10-15 minutes at most), which will ask you about your experiences with and perceptions about relationships at Democratic Underground. Our goal is to learn something about sources of conflict and subsequent behavior in online groups which have a political focus. If you receive a survey invitation and choose to accept, you will not be asked to provide any personal or identifying information.
PLEASE NOTE: SURVEY PARTICIPATION IS COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY VOLUNTARY! IF YOU CHOOSE NOT TO ACCEPT YOUR INVITATION, YOU MAY SIMPLY DELETE THE MESSAGE AND YOU WILL NOT BE BOTHERED A SECOND TIME!
If there is sufficient interest, and the administrators allow it, we would be happy to share an overview of our results with the DU community after analysis is complete (sometime in late December or January.)
Thank you for your attention to this post, and thank you in advance for your cooperation with this project.
