Pictures from today's Prop. 8 protest in NYC.
And feel free to add your own to this thread. Let's see if we can create a compilation from today, even if you were not able to attend.

The turn-out was phenomenal! It had been overcast and raining on and off all morning, until right before the rally started. At that moment, the sun burned through the clouds and we had sunshine the entire time!

I have video, as well, which I'll post later.

1. I am so proud to give this the 5th rec...
And I LOVE the signs...

SUCK IT ARKANSAS!
MO MORE MR. NICE GAY!

Sorry Arkansas DU'ers - nothing against you guys personally, we love every DU'er regardless of where they are from.
And they don't call it the natural state for nothing.
It's beautiful.

I'm not saying it's right, I'm saying as a native New York City resident, I understand.
We're kind of in your face that way.

14. There were a lot of creative signs.
I forgot the memory stick, otherwise I would have taken many more.

And I don't think our fellow DUers will be upset with that sign. I hope they would understand the anger, but if they are a DUer and they voted for it, then they can suck it!

24. I've organized and attended protests for many years.
Today was the first time in quite a while that gave me hope.

9. They were expecting between 5-10 thousand.
The threat of rain may have deterred some from participating. We were there for about an hour and a half, but as we left, the crowd was growing. The police had to move the barricades a few times, that's how large the crowd was getting.

11. Don't know if you caught Larry King last night, Joy Behar was
hosting and it was all about Prop 8.

In the 3rd segment they had a panel and a minister that was for the passage of it actually said that he was worried that gay marriage would decrease the chances of his daughter finding a husband.

For the life of me I cannot understand these people. Do they really want their daughter to marry a man who is attracted to men. It's a recipe for a life time of heart break for all parties.

The sign in the pic you posted says it all.

28. I certainly wouldn't want either of them marrying my daughter
Edited on Sat Nov-15-08 10:57 PM by Wednesdays
Because that would mean breaking up a perfectly happy union, and forcing at least one of them into a situation where he's not true to himself.

I'd plagiarize that sign. ;)

10. Here's the video from the start of the rally:
I was trying to get a feel for how large the crowd was, when the rally started and the chants started increasing from front to back. We were in the middle, so it was pretty cool experiencing how the chant just kept on building through the crowd.

I can't for the life of me fathom WTF is wrong with people who would deny others equal rights. Well, I can, but it makes me want to puke.

Did you have a good time? We went to Boston City Hall and it was great. Big turn out too in spite of the weather (including some of our Congress members).

We didn't have a camera but Bi-Baby took some pix on her phone (which she'll hopefully post soon).

The AP got me though.
