I'm feeling more and more socialistic with each passing day.
And isn't it funny that it was the Republicans who started us on that road?

How hard can it be to move from the government owning banks to the government owning the health care industry? The car biz? Dare I dream it - Big Oil?

And while we're at it, the airlines, too.

These businesses might one day want to again be private. And if that's in the national interest, sure. Why not?

But right now?

I'm all for nationalizing all the important businesses. There's no reason why the current 'titans' of greed should be allowed to continue. They can observe ...... from prison.

3. Yeah, I know what you mean.
For the last two Saturdays, I've stood on a major street corner close to my house, handing out dollar bills. What's wrong with me?

5. Funny, I am feeling more Medieval every day.
Medieval in the sense that things like the Katherine's wheel, rolling up intestines on garden hose reels, pouring molten lead down the throats of liars and The Iron Maiden are starting to make more sense every day.

It's just a phase. I am sure it will pass.

7. They sort brought it all right out in the open.
Good for them. They are on their way to becoming the God Hates Fags party while we are getting back on track toward picking up where FDR, Truman, Kennedy, and Johnson left off. I actually didn't think I would live long enough to see this day arrive, but I am beginning to really have hope.

8. Repukes did bring it up and made people go and look it up..
Edited on Sun Nov-16-08 11:36 AM by and-justice-for-all
and I am more of a Socialist then I thought I was..

What the repukes tried to do, was to get people convinced that Socialism and Communism was the same thing; which did not work.

9. Much of 'old Europe' is socialist. Or capitalist. Or socialist. Or capitalist. Or soc ........
That's kinda my model of an ideal society. Capitalist with enough socialism that no one is left out. They're not perfect at it either. Not by a long shot.

But a whole lot better than we are.

11. I reached that point YEARS ago...there is NOTHING "wrong" with socialism
for the COMMON PERSON, not the perverted socialism for the wealth like we've had NOW...

12. Are we the new "fringe" ?
. . . the "far-left" that we've heard so much about?

We are in the "center-shifting" business then.

I'd love to see the corporate media whores kicked to the curb and the people in control of the media and all programming.

Just imagine this: T.V. with NO commercials.

15. Necessary for the 21st Century:
Either re-regulate or nationalize:

*Banking and Lending

*Energy

*Utilities

*Transportation

*Communications

*International Trade

Things that should NEVER be Privatized (corporatized) in a democracy:

*Law Enforcement

*The Military
(No "contractors" carrying guns)

*Corrections
(No Corporate Prisons)

*Elections

The Democratic Party is a BIG TENT, but there is NO ROOM for those
who advance the agenda of THE RICH (Corporate Owners) at the EXPENSE of LABOR and the POOR.

16. Socialism is the natural result of unrestrained capitalism
People see that the latter doesn't work. They keep trying and trying and the situation only gets worse. Eventually htey figure that it's not that they're doing it wrong, it's that the system itself is flawed. In this case, capitalism is a self-cannibalizing system expressly designed to enrich the rich and impoverish the poor. The trick is, as it tears the base out of the economy, it'll end up making those ultra-rich people just as poor as the people on the street, unless they make a good guess of when to get the hell out of the system.

17. so much confusion
The politicians either first represent the best interests of the workers, of the public, or those of the investors and speculators. Rarely are the two one and the same.

The political right says help the investors and speculators first, and wealth will trickle down to the peons.

The political left says help the people, the workers and producers first, as that is the source of all wealth and prosperity.

The political right says control the little people, the workers and the poor, keep a tight leash on them and blame them when things go wrong.

The political left says control the wealthy and powerful, lest they gain all power and the other 99% o0f the population suffers as a result.

The political right says that it is the job of the workers and the people to support the economy.

The political left says that the only purpose for the economy is to support the people in their lives, not to be a playground for the few to amass wealth and power at the expense of the people.

This is not that complicated, and it only serves the right wing to spread confusion about this.
