Anyone else feel this way: That Washington Dems don't really care about a Franken win... |
|
From the coverage and actions of Washington Democratic politicians, I sort of get a feeling that they don't really take a "Senator Franken" seriously. It seems like they see his race as a sort of frige or odd ball type thing and don't even really care if he wins or loses.
Anyone else feel this way?

1. I worry about it.... he's an outsider and the club does not support |

outsiders gladly. Hopefully their own self-benefit from a Franken win will move them to help.

4. All of the establishment dems... |
|
I'm mainly referring to what would be his fellow politicians. The lack of comment from them seems loud and clear. It's almost like they feel jealous or something that the media would focus on him and steal their limelight or something.

14. That's a ridiculous suggestion. And it's not true. |

Project much? You're seeing ghosts that aren't there. You're afraid of an apparition that exists only in your head. There's no story beyond the story that has been faithfully carried: it's a close race with some bantering going on, but all know it's going to be a while before a recount is done and decides the race. Al Franken has said so.
The real question is: Why in the world would you attack "Washington Democrats" for not satisfying your need for more response on their part? It is your expectation that is askew.

22. God, have you even been paying attention to the Obama campaign? |
|
Wow. First you hurl insults and second you seem to be completely oblivious to what Obama ran his entire campaign against - Washington politics. There is such an animal.
And if you don't think some Washington politicians treat other colleagues differently, I suggest you contact actor Mike Myers and borrow his Austin Powers wayback machine so you can go back in time to help you remember how the other Democratic politicians treated Dennis Kucinich during the presidential campaign.
Washington Dems are treating Al Franken similarly to how they did Kucinich. Hell, these people are even treating Joe Lieberman better.

17. Maybe they shouldn't embroil themselves in a race they have no say in. |
|
Probably a good thing to have them stay neutral, since the rethugs are gonna scream about some kind of fraud should they lose. Come to think of it, I bet we do too.

the recount is in the hands of the state and perhaps at this point the less said by other Dems the better, the repukes are in hysteria mode and making wild charges of fraud by MN election officials. In MN the SoS is elected and MN has a truly puke governor and a Dem SoS.

10. Good Lord! That's ridiculous. WTF is a "Washington Dem" supposed to be?! |
|
Those "Washington Dems" you refer to are all from places like Minnesota, places NOT Washington, DC. Calling them "Washington Dems," as if they are some group of alien Democrats, is something the GOP does.
Everyone in Washington wants every seat in both Houses of congress, and they certainly want Franken to win. But we all know that it will be weeks before a recount is over. There's no reason to get excited. It's going to take a while. Al has said as much, himself.
Why are you filled with vicarious outrage about something that isn't true and isn't something one would expect to hear from a Democrat?

21. Washington Dem - Sen, Reps and any Washington insider... |
|
To better understand my point, contrast the amount of media coverage and politician attention that is being focused on the Sen races in Alaska and Georgia.
To me, it almost seems as if the "mainstream" Dems sort of see Franken as not a real politician or something
And where did I show any outrage? It's just an observation. There seems to be a lack of attention by his possible colleagues. And if you don't think Washington politicians don't look down their noses at others not like them, then you are pretty naive.

There is a recount underway, not a run-off. The Dems have sent money and attorneys to watch the recount and make sure all is in place. In the Chambless/Martin situation there is an actual voting run-off situation. The Dems are doing for Minnesota what they are doing for Alaska, sending money and attorneys for the recount. More ads, more speeches aren't going to help Alaska or Minnesota one way or the other and the state of Minnesota is the best in the country on voting laws and making sure all votes are fairly counted.

the election.
The Secretary of State is an amazing man, absolutely committed to election integrity. He won't bend the rules for Franken, but he sure as hell won't get run over or pushed by Coleman.
Franken had more than 400 people at his training to be recount observers. He also has a team of lawyers.
I don't know what else people, Washington Dems, or others can do to support him other than give $$$
