What I don't get about prop 8.
Why all the effort after the vote instead of before? Are we surprised at the outcome? Was it expected to fail?

1. It was polling as failing until a couple of weeks before the election I believe.
I'm surprised at the outcome.

2. Many expected it to fail. In early polling it looked like it would fail.
You could say the anti-8 forces just didn't believe it would really pass.

4. It probably did fail
But was propped up by electronic vote counting. Really, no one should be surprised. They couldn't steal it from Obama, so they settled for seconds.

Afterall, pretty much the same people who own the voting machines are against gay rights.

5. If that's the case why not pay for a recount?

6. You'd have to ask the leadership.

7. I'm not in California, but I assumed it would fail.
I'm sure there are many people who mistakenly thought it would fail, too.

I didn't really know about the organized effort by the Mormon and Catholic Churches. I was focused on the presidential race.
