1963 Pontiac Le Mans TEMPEST Winning bid: US $226,521.63

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Pontiac-Le-Mans-TEMPEST-63-PONTIAC-LeMANS-TEMPEST-1-4-MILE-CAR-W-O-MOTOR-TRANS_W0QQitemZ110306170567QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item110306170567&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=72%3A727%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

I couldn't find a car forum other than the Motorsport group which this doesn't suit and its sure not a routine ebay item.

"fastest car in 63,special built by pontiac"

so, racing enthusiasts/collectors are going for it.

6. This was a factory hot rod.
Which means only a handful were made, likely for drag racing applications. That makes it rarer than chicken lips. In the car world, with cars like that, the sky is the limit.

I had a friend who had a 68 Hemi Dodge Dart, in the exact nick, mint condition, that it was in when it rolled off the Dodge line. 1 of 52 made. Still had the original broadcast papers. The amount he sold it for was staggering.

8. the one sd station wagon body was melted down in my shop class
the guy that painted his cars donated the body to my shop class for casting projects. beswick had his blocks made specially by Pontiac. my brother in law also raced pontiac and saw the engine blocks with no numbers only a b..

this car if authentic is not worth what these guy paid for it. since there`s to many original parts missing and the body in that shape restoration would cost tens of thousands more than what anyone would pay at auction. my friend had a 65 wagon that had every consumer factory high performance bits and pieces offered. small block v-8 and it was fast.

9. Slightly OT, but take a look at this!
For only a little more than the Tempest, you can own two used books:

(listing #1, of course...)
