Friedman,no wonder he wants people to go shopping.
Friedman's personal fortune is based on his wife's inheritance of a shopping center owner and management company, General Growth Properties, whose share price has fallen from $40 to 40 cents.

When President Bush told us to go shopping after 9/11, he was right.

Op-Ed Columnist
Gonna Need a Bigger Boat
By THOMAS L. FRIEDMAN
Now is when we need a president who has the skill, the vision and the courage to cut through this cacophony, pull us together as one nation and inspire and enable us to do the one thing we can and must do right now:
Go shopping.
When President Bush told us to go shopping after 9/11, he was right.

1. Great Find... Wow
it's amazing how self-serving people can get even in light of so many Americans suffering so much. It seems they are so disconnected to the realities folks experience in most corners of this country, that their only answer is motivated by their own myopically self-serving greed.

2. Poor guy!!!
Life's tough. He'll just have to struggle along on the income he rakes in from speaking engagements, best-selling books, and his ongoing gig at the NYT.

It just chokes me up to see him suffer so!!! :puke:

3. Hey, FATHEAD!
Edited on Sun Nov-16-08 08:27 PM by Warpy
What the hell are we supposed to go shopping WITH? Five fingered discounts are the only way most of us are going to afford much of anything in the coming few years unless you admit you were WRONG and start writing columns addressing the need to prop up the demand side of the economic equation!

You and the class you fattened have just about managed to crash the economy in this country by your STUPIDITY in asserting that the economy somehow works from the top down. You need to crawl around on your belly and beg everybody's forgiveness for the years of robbing us blind to fatten the already fat cats who paid you to write endless, mindless drivel.

You and the class you worship do this to us every time you morons shop that snake oil around to a new generation of CHUMPS who forgot what you did to their grandparents the last time you wormed your way into power.

So blow it out your ass, Friedman. Maybe we'll get smart this time and your head will be on a pike outside the Capitol building in perpetuity, as a warning to other idiots who sell this garbage to line their own pockets while they pick ours.

6. Wow, there are many malls owned by...
General Growth around here. All of these malls are failing.

I grew up in a family that owned businesses in these malls. One of these malls has become
a hollow tomb. The mall is renting out space to city offices because retailers aren't
renting there.

These malls were booming in the 1980's.

Very interesting information about Friedman.
