3. You all don't remember I suppose
that under Clinton, gas was under a dollar in some places. That was 9 years ago, but a world differant. Remember how strong our dollar was when we were paying off our national debt, and it was 1/2 the size it is now? Ahh the good old days

14. It's around that in Minneapolis
and a couple nights ago the local news did a story on how the lower gas prices (plus winter coming on) have the local car dealers selling more SUVs and at least one Toyota dealer now has excess Priuses.

Idiots.

17. The people who bought those SUV's....
are going to regret it, if they think gas is going to stay at this price for years to come then they got another thing coming.

Idiots indeed.

9. It's just Bush and his oil buddies manipulating the
price to give McCain an edge. It'll go up right after the election, just wait.

19. If only I had a dollar for every time I met somebody who said they'd
vote in support of McCain's vision for foreign policy, the economy, and social issues if gas was under $2.15 a gallon, but would abandon this in favor of Obama message of change if gas remained over $2.15. I'd be a fuckin' rich man.

Of course more moderate to left-leaning voters put this threshold at $2.05.

For as much as I want to feel outrage, I almost admire how shrewd Big Oil execs are to forgo billions of dollars in revenue by lowering the gas price from $4/gallon to under $2/gallon to guarantee another eight years of Republican hegemony.

29. the banks decided that it would be easier to get the money
directly from the government than to manipulate the price of oil. as soon as consummation of oil started decline the banks and speculators realized the game was turning against them. so they started the run on other banks and "begged" paulson for a "bail-out".
