I wish the reporters would NOT interview the "people who stayed"
It must really hurt the people who evacuated, and their precious home was just one of many unoccupied on the street...and there was that lone daredevil-dad with a garden hose...valiantly trying to save his house..and guess where the firemen went?

So the reporters plaster his mug on tv and have him regale us all about how wonerful the firemen were (one crew was our local fire-guys), and how they helped him save his house... BUT 7 of his immediate neighbors were not so lucky..:(

This is the California version of "Hell yes..we're havin' us a Hurricane Party"..

and the next time a fire comes along (probably next week :scared:..) more men will stay behind in hopes that a fire crew will choose HIM, instead of a nondescript house, whose owners followed the order to evacuate..

1. You are right.
The news turns reckless assholes into heroes.

3. These "on-the-scene" reporters use the events as career-boosters

as they look for the schmaltziest, most "interesting" angles, without a care in the world..

there was one newsette the other night standing there with her blonde mane blowing in an 80 mph firestorm, pointing out the shower of embers falling on her..going "ooh..ouch..ooh" every time one hit her..

I guess she thought if her hair caught fire on the air, she'd get a promotion or something ..

The people in the studio cringed, but NO ONE told her.. "COVER UP YOUR HAIR DAMMIT"..
