I promise this movie will punch you in the gut and cannot recommend it highly enough . . . right up there with Wim Wenders' best work.

I now regret that I did not commit civil disobedience for the entirety of the past 8 years. I am so ashamed of my country right now and you will be too if you see this film.

1. I saw it last night....
it is very good...
I was filled with such a variety of emotions
during and after the film...
tears just streamed towards the end...
it packs a quiet punch...

3. Subtle and understated, which makes
Walter's explosion at the detention center and Mouna's "rescue" of him all the more poignant and plausible.

2. Yes. It is excellent. It's not what it seems. Really, really worth seeing.
I loved it. I think it's only on pay per view. But I will rent it or buy it or tivo it sometime soon. I'd love to see it again. Highly, highly recommended.

Also, The Band's Visit. That one's also good for the soul.

4. The only quibble I had with it was
that every Immigration "bad guy" was played by an African-American, which ellides the historical fact that the policies and their execution have been at the hands of old white men.

But that's a relatively minor blemish.

BTW, it's out on DVD now also.
