Hydroelectric Power
How much electricity in America is produced by hydroelectric power? Is there an ability to generate more electricity through hydroelectric power?

1. About 10% - Dams are fish killers

I've been working with hydro power fish protection/bypass systems for decades, and it is a leading cause of of wiping out the native salmon runs in the Pacific Northwest, and has caused major ecological problems in the Colorado River basin, but it is indeed a saver of fossil fuel.

It comes down to trade-offs. What do we want to give up for cheap power.

Pump-back hydro as a means to store wind/solar generated energy has promise.
