There can only be two or three reasons at the most, one reason surmised by some, bin Laden is more useful as a mad man 'out there' threatening us still, but is that any reason not to capture him and claim supreme glory and justice?

Why would he deliberately let him escape? After all, he's the most wanted terrorist in the world right?

Sometimes I wonder if bin Laden had anything at all to do with nine eleven, because there is NO real effort to find him and bring him to justice. It was never proven that he did nine eleven, and the plan to capture him was abandoned many years ago.

I suppose this lonely post will go to the dungeon, so enjoy it while you can.

3. Why try to kill the goose that laid the golden eggs?
People who benefit from any kind of 'problem' RARELY attempt to eliminate the problem.

4. The Bin Laden Family and the Bush Family have been friends and business partners for decades...
Salem bin Laden (Osama's half-brother) financed George W's early oil ventures in Texas in the 1970s:

Arbusto Energy (sometimes referred to as Arbusto Oil)<1> was a petroleum and energy company formed in Midland, Texas, in 1977, by future US President George W. Bush and a group of investors which included Dorothy Bush, Lewis Lehrman, William Henry Draper III, Bill Gammell, and James R. Bath. The company's chief financial officer was K. Michael Conaway, now a United States Congressman from Texas.

It was later revealed that Bath made an investment of $50,000 while representing Salem bin Laden of the Saudi Binladin Group. This fact became controversial after the September 11, 2001 attacks due to Salem bin Laden being an older, half-brother of Osama bin Laden, who planned and financed the attacks. Upon Salem bin Laden's death in a 1988 airplane crash, in Texas, his interest in Arbusto (along with other Binladin Group assets), passed to Khalid bin Mahfouz.

Whatever made us think George W was going to "kill or capture" a member of the Bin Laden family?

6. Republicans need problems to rail against
so that you will vote for them.

They have no interest in addressing the problem, because if they do, they have nothing to run on.

Why do you think that during the first six years of the Bush Administration, during which they held both the House and the Congress, that they never tried to outlaw abortion?

8. The military-industrial complex needs a War
The War on Terror replaced the Cold War.

And the mucking around in the Balkans that the Clinton Administration did wasn't a big enough deal to support the military-industrial complex.

A "Clash of Civilizations" existential-type conflict between Christians and Muslims fit the bill quite nicely.
