Imagine a worsening economy, but as it gets worse, we get the brass ring of ...... |
|
..... single payer universal health care for all citizens.
Would you feel better if you knew we all had at least the ability to get all our health care needs met with no out of pocket expenses whatsoever (except at tax time)?
I would.

2. That would be nice, but we're not going to get it under this administration or the next |

Single payer UHC seems to be one of the third rails of politics, and politicians don't want to touch it and risk being denounced as a socialist, even though the majority of Americans actually support it. Strange but true.

4. This will not be an exact repeat of the last New Deal... |

Many of the programs enacted then are still working. FDR didn't have enough capitol to get UHC passed too, but we are starting much closer to the finish line this time. I think it's a strong possibility IF we DEMAND it.

5. Nope. This "New Deal" started off with a $3 trillion no-strings attached giveaway to the wealthy |
|
We are far behind where we were in the 1930s in terms of the power of labor, and many of our friends on the "left" are sharpening the long knives over the still-breathing body of the UAW as we speak.
