Prince (THAT Prince???) Talks Religious Conversion, Anti-Gay Marriage Stance
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/11/17/prince-talks-religious-co_n_144338.html

Seven years ago, he became a Jehovah's Witness. He said that he had moved to L.A. so that he could understand the hearts and minds of the music moguls. "I wanted to be around people, connected to people, for work," he said. "You know, it's all about religion. That's what unites people here. They all have the same religion, so I wanted to sit down with them, to understand the way they see things, how they read Scripture."

Prince had his change of faith, he said, after a two-year-long debate with a musician friend, Larry Graham. "I don't see it really as a conversion," he said. "More, you know, it's a realization. It's like Morpheus and Neo in 'The Matrix.' " He attends meetings at a local Kingdom Hall, and, like his fellow-witnesses, he leaves his gated community from time to time to knock on doors and proselytize. "Sometimes people act surprised, but mostly they're really cool about it," he said.

Recently, Prince hosted an executive who works for Philip Anschutz, the Christian businessman whose company owns the Staples Center. "We started talking red and blue," Prince said. "People with money--money like that--are not affected by the stock market, and they're not freaking out over anything. They're just watching. So here's how it is: you've got the Republicans, and basically they want to live according to this." He pointed to a Bible. "But there's the problem of interpretation, and you've got some churches, some people, basically doing things and saying it comes from here, but it doesn't. And then on the opposite end of the spectrum you've got blue, you've got the Democrats, and they're, like, 'You can do whatever you want.' Gay marriage, whatever. But neither of them is right."

When asked about his perspective on social issues--gay marriage, abortion--Prince tapped his Bible and said, "God came to earth and saw people sticking it wherever and doing it with whatever, and he just cleared it all out. He was, like, 'Enough.' "

22. And does he still accept royalties
from all his "sinful" music or does he refuse to accept the money from all the songs he wrote about premarital sex, masturbation, etc.? What about all the dirty videos he made? Something tells me that despite his new found self-righteousness he still takes the money!

34. No he isn't
He says he won't perform those songs any more. I have very mixed feelings about this, I used to be a huge Prince fan back in the 80s, which makes it harder for me to throw him under the bus than it would be if I'd never liked him. But he hasn't made a good album in 20 years, so I preferred to remember him as he was back in his heyday, even before I read this story.

has become a conservative.

There's really no better stripping song than Diamonds and Pearls.

13. Some choice Prince lyrics:
"Now morning, noon and night I'll give you head..."
"Am I black or white, am I straight, or gay?"
"Sexuality is ALL I ever need..."
"Girl's got an ass like I've never seen..."
"She don't wear no underwear. She says it only gets in her hair. And it's got a funny way of stopping the juice. Oh, Sister..."
"I sincerely wanna fuck the taste out of your mouth..."
"You sexy motherfucker..."
"If we cannot make babies maybe we can make some time..."
"Pussy control, pussy control..."

Talk about a ONE TRACK MIND! (his not mine)

14. Geeze, all the Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses coming to my door
Are already shorter than I am, and I'm not a tall man. If I got back into the gym, I could probably launch Prince onto the street when he knocked on my door.

It's funny that he's so enamored of the republicans now - what are the chances they would be happy to bring into the fold a 5'2", androgynous, high-hell wearing, Black Jehovah Witness who sings songs about meeting women who are masturbating with magazines in hotel lobbies? I say give him a keynote speech in 2012!

Nice to be proven right after all these years - I just need to add hypocrite to the list since he was ok selling sex to get rich and famous.

On the first volume of "An Evening with Kevin Smith" DVD, Mr. Smith tells a devastating, funny, and weirdly respectful account of his dealings with Prince. He was able to tell the tale because Prince's employees failed to ensure Mr. Smith signed the non-disclosure agreement.

26. I think the death of his infant son devastated him.
Prince was always very religious but I don't recall that he claimed a denomination before he got with the Jehovah's witnesses. Personally, I think he used to see himself as a prophet. My guess is that after the baby died, he got lost and wandered around until he found the Watchtower Society. Many people adopt a denomination after travailing through personal tragedy.

It wasn't much of an interview and really, his comments were pretty vague. But then, Prince is the master of vague.

And clarify what he really believes.

Fuck, I hate that crazy-ass, nutty-headed celebrities have more of a voice on our rights than we do.

19. Another example of JW hypocrisy!
Prince would be disfellowshiped from the organization if he didn't have so much money! Let's not forget that the Michael Jackson was a JW also, and as long as he was giving the money to the society, he was a "good person" who they would brag about being a JW, once he stopped and went to other religions, then according to the Witness's he was "NEVER" really a JW!

I know a lot about the JW religion, and believe me they are one of the biggest con artists you could ever meet. They preach one thing, but fail to practice what they preach. JW's are not allowed to vote, and are supposed to be "neutral" when it comes to politics. They would never admit in public that they favored on party, although I know many who are Rush Limbaugh zombies, and who would be kicked out of the group if their leaders knew they listened to Rush Limbauh. But her Prince is saying that the republican live by the word of God, and democrats are not, and yet as long as he keeps on giving lots of money, nothing will happen to him.

20. The funny sad thing is, that any other Jehovah's Witness would be disfellowshipped
if they insisted on doing a Prince look-alike act at a congregation get-together/talent show. And I don't mean the old Prince, I mean if they imitated the new, JW Prince's show/act.

Prince is not just clueless about politics, he's clueless about his own religion.
