5. I wish they'd stop with the "It's an NRA plot!" nonsense.

I swear, the NRA gets more FREE publicity for stuff like this. There are a ton of gun owners in America, and here on DU (myself included), that aren't members of the NRA, and don't give a rats ass what the NRA thinks/publishes/says. This recent splurge in gun sales has very little to do with them and a whole lot to do with change.gov's proclamation that Obama and Biden want to reinstate, and make permanent, a new "assault weapon" ban.

6. The run is not surprising

There are quite a few anti-gun activists on DU that are openly cheering for new restrictions on gun sales and ownership.

I presume this is being mirrored nationwide on various discussion boards, blogs, newsletters, magazines, etc.


The NRA doesn't have to fabricate something out of whole cloth;, they can simply point to places like the Gungeon and say "look in there".

9. No, that's the shorthand for a new Assault Weapons Ban

Which would ban future sales of guns that Congress arbitrarily labels "assault weapons". And probably include a ban on magazine of more then 10 rounds capacity.

If no new "assault weapons" can be sold, then the supply in the marketplace becomes fixed and prices will go up.


If Congress was going to prohibit selling violent video games or pornography, there would be a run on Grand Theft Auto and Briana Banks movies prior to them coming into power.
